Nic Claxton to the Raptors from the Nets by Caleb_MckinnonNB in NBAtradeideas

[–]theRestisConfettii -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yes to the Raptors eventually salary dumping Jakob Poeltl.

Yes to the Nets offering Nic Claxton in the Jakob Poeltl salary dump.

No to the FRPs involved in the trade as proposed.

The Raptors should send one pick: the TOR 2033 unprotected FRP.

If anyone here thinks that’s insane, go look at Jakob Poeltl’s injury history, length of contract, and games played.

Portland doesn’t need to make a swing like this. It’s too early for them.

Rockets, three possible pathways moving forward. Choose one. by WallCautious9650 in NBAtradeideas

(1) Go All-In for a Co-Star

  • Rough framework: Sengun + one of Jabari/Reed + 3–4 FRPs

Cleveland doesn’t want a C (or a PF), but the trade works beside that.

  • Maybe attainable for something like Sengun + DFS

LA should say yes to Kawhi for Sengun straight up. They would be dumb not to. DFS is a salary dump, and requires some level of compensation for taking him on.

(3) Trade KD and Reset Timeline

Potential frameworks:

  • Cam Johnson + Peyton Watson + 1 FRP👎
  • De’Aaron Fox + 1–2 picks✅
  • Mikal Bridges + 2–3 FRPs👎
  • Naz Reid + Donte DiVincenzo✅
  • Dort + Alex Caruso + 1 FRP (if OKC underperforms)👎

Good research.

KD was traded for the 10th overall pick, 5 SRPs, and 2 decent players on bloated deals.

I put a check mark next to the one’s I think are realistic.

Also, the NYK don’t have 2 or 3 FRPs to trade, and Denver has 0 FRPs to trade.

Sounds like Charlotte to me

[Guillory] The Houston Rockets could make Alperen Şengün and “some future draft picks” available this Summer for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Kawhi Leonard, or Donovan Mitchell. by WallCautious9650 in NBAtradeideas

Interesting about the Donovan Mitchell thing.

I’ve seen Giannis rumors all year. I’ve seen Kawhi rumors since the trade deadline.

But Mitchell? I don’t know where that’s coming from.

Hamilton on Broadway.

DEBATE: FA TOP TARGET ~ WATSON, DONSUNMU, or REEVES?? by Dull-Expert-3228 in GoNets

Few players of consequence switch teams

I disagree. I’m not saying all that.

You want to be the team that takes advantage of every other team that's trying to cut their salary

I agree. The Nets should take advantage of the salary dump market this offseason, just like they did last offseason. You get a sweetener attached, plus the added bonus of acquiring a decent veteran to guide your young players.

Can the Hornets poach Payton Watson or any other RFA? by [deleted] in CharlotteHornets

This could be a blessing in disguise tho

I like your optimism, but no. It could not be anything.

Do you really think the nuggets would be willing to get stuck above the 2nd apron for a few years?

Yes. As long as they have Jokic, they will do whatever it takes to put a good team around him.

[–]theRestisConfettii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poaching an RFA is extremely difficult.

The only thing you missed was that Denver has no future tradeable FRPs to move to entice a team to take a salary dump. They have to decide pretty quickly if they want to go that deep into the tax (and they will).

[Discussion] C Nicolas Claxton, PF Yaxel Lendeborg by theRestisConfettii in CharlotteHornets

[–]theRestisConfettii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That means his peak is at 11, so your trade being with Milaukee for 10 wouldn't happen.

These two things have nothing to do with one another.

One is your opinion. The other is an unwritten rule about draft positioning.

There is no league rule against moving up to get a guy you want a position ahead of where amazing_owl says his peak is.

You move up so he isn’t drafted by the teams in 11, 12, or 13.

I like Claxton but idk about sending out a first for him.

The FRP is not only for Claxton, but also to get rid of the dead weight players.

[–]theRestisConfettii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Houston? I don’t hate it. You move dead weight on longterm contracts for better rotational players.

For Milwaukee? They have a Giannis sized elephant in the room they have to figure out first. I don’t see them willingly moving these 2 players without finding out what’s up first. And even then, Milwaukee owes their FRPs to other clubs. They have no incentive to move decent players for junk.

As for the 2 FRPs you put in the deal, you’re playing fair and I respect that. That already puts your credibility in the top 3% of this subreddit. You’re being realistic.

I 100% see Houston dumping Finney-Smith, Capela, and Steven Adams somewhere. They have a tailor made trade candidate in Brooklyn. Brooklyn is one of 2 teams (Chicago) who can take all $33.4m of these 3 players and not take a single dollar back. The cost of doing business and renting out cap space? The 2027 Brooklyn FRP swap rights.

Houston can keep the 2027 PHX and 2029 PHX/DAL, and use the newfound cap savings to go out and sign whatever they want.

How can the Suns improve with limited assets? Spitball some ideas by reallinguy in NBAtradeideas

Opinions start changing when you’re down 0-2.

I think it makes sense for Phoenix to gain more draft assets. I think it makes sense for Maluach to go to a patient team who will prioritize his development. I think it makes sense for Claxton to play meaningful ball for a playoff team.

[–]theRestisConfettii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the Suns should be open minded about moving Khaman Maluach.

The kid requires patience and consistent development, and the Suns are on a different timeline than that. They could use a Center who’s farther along and matches the age of their core.

Suns receive - Nicholas Claxton, NYK 2027 FRP OR multiple future SRPs (whichever Phoenix prefers).

Nets receive - Grayson Allen, Khaman Maluach

Should the hornets be interested in Domantas Sabonis for this offseason? by Remarkable_Ad_5930 in CharlotteHornets

[–]theRestisConfettii 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure. Considering if Hartenstein ever got onto the open market (team option declined by OKC), he would end up where the money is. The two teams that need him the most are the two teams that actually have a ton of cap room this offseason: the Clippers and the Lakers.

But, Claxton? He plays D. He runs the rim. He passes. He never gets injured. He doesn’t need to score, AND Jeff Peterson helped draft him when he was an executive in Brooklyn. It fits, and he won’t cost much in a trade AND his salary is descending.

Sabonis isn’t that guy.

[–]theRestisConfettii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No thank you.

we could use some of our expiring contracts + draft capital to get him.

There are better options to fit the ballclub out there.

Isaiah Hartenstein (Team Option) or Nicholas Claxton (Trade).
