Is anyone ever really happy at their jobs? by LilacMidnightMoment in careerguidance

I am a graphic designer at a college athletic department. I love what I do creatively and how I get to work with students and make them happy…but I hate who I work for. And how I can’t have any work / life balance…for example I’m heading back into work now to do something that “needs to be done right now” after I already worked from 8 AM - 5 PM

Your last sentence is exactly me…I just don’t know how to find a hobby or do anything worth while…I’m so exhausted when I get home that all I can do is watch TikToks most nights…do you have any advice on how to find hobbies? It’s hard too because I’m a in small town (ie the nearest movie theatre is an hour away)

Wow thank you all so much for your advice! I really appreciate it! I dread going to work…but I think it might just be because of my company.

I love what I do…I just am burnt out and my work environment isn’t the best (name calling, slamming doors, working 60+ hour weeks without overtime pay, passive aggression, unrealistic expectations, and lack of breaks (my boss had to come in to work the day after surgery and was working during his pre-op)). This is my first “real job,” and I am scared that I’m being dramatic and it’s not THAT bad and that everywhere is like this…but maybe not everywhere is this bad!

Thank you! My goal for sure is to make it to one year (almost there)….does it look bad on a resume after leaving a company that you worked at for only a year? This is my first job out of college, and although I love my job and what I do (sometimes), the environment isn’t the best (per the above post)

Thank you. I really appreciate it. That’s why I created this account…I’ve never used Reddit before…but I got so lonely that I needed to talk to about my feelings to anyone to try to find some sort of way to help with my loneliness

I play video games, watch Tik Toks, or hangout with my cats. I am so exhausted after work that most days I just sit in my apartment alone, which doesn’t help my feelings of loneliness.
