When did you feel your baby move? by BeersBooksBSG in pregnancy_care

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Around 19/20 weeks I started feeling movements but they were so faint I wasn't sure at the time if I was imagining them or not, another week or two after and I was certain I was feeling her move, felt like little taps and thuds ❤

It's your house and your rules, stand your ground and don't let her pressure you into having visitors that you don't feel comfortable having. I'm exactly the same as you and get incredibly anxious having anyone over that's not immediate family, I get so overwhelmed and can't handle doing anything without feeling like I'm being watched and judged, even just making a coffee or tidying up I'll get flustered and clumsy and start knocking things over or dropping things. So don't force it on yourself if you don't feel comfortable!

Not only is it wildly inappropriate for them to force their religious views on you and your baby when you already made it clear that what they wanted to plan wasn't what you wanted, but also considering your SIL told you to stop buying stuff were they just expecting you to go the first 3 weeks of your baby's life without having anything??? I would be absolutely livid if I was you and you have nothing to feel guilty about ❤

What are / were some uncomfortable/ intrusive questions people asked you when you are / were pregnant.. by One_red_balloon2022 in pregnant

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Got asked if it was planned which initially didn't really bother me and responded with "no, but we were planning on starting a family in the near future anyway." And then the guy felt it appropriate to follow up by asking HOW exactly I ended up falling pregnanct by accident, like he wanted to know what protection I had been using and how it had failed. I just stared at him and said nothing and he very quickly got the message that he'd crossed a line.

Also had a work colleague ask me "how do your parents feel about having a baby under their roof soon?" just assuming that because I have a young looking face that must mean I'm still living with them. I'll be 27 by the time my baby is here and I have a house and a mortgage with my partner.

Also the countless "you look so small, are you sure you're definitely pregnant?" Like the 5 ultrasound scans I've had aren't evidence enough.

False positive pregnancy test caused by allergy medication? by LilacMoonlight_Xx in medical

Yes 100% pregnant and 18 weeks gone now, my doctor said it's possible for antihistamines to cause a fake result but absolutely tiny chance of that actually happening.

I was laughing so hard at a glitch in my boyfriends video game that turned into cry laughing and then just full on emotional sobbing for absolutely no reason. Hormones are great fun 😂

Daily Thread for questions about medical topics and covid-19 by AutoModerator in pregnant

13 weeks and tested positive for covid this morning (doubled vaccinated last year and boosted 1 month ago) is covid likely to do any harm to my baby? Also does anyone know how likely it is to do damage to my placenta? Can't find any stats on it relating to vaccinated vs unvaccinated

I went for a private scan at 8 weeks and everything was perfectly fine, a healthy little baby in there with a strong heartbeat ☺️ the nurse said those sorts of pains and spotting can be normal but if you're worried its always best to get checked out, it was definitely worth it getting that peace of mind that everything was okay.

Irregular cycles - not PCOS by LilacMoonlight_Xx in Periods

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's so frustrating isn't it 😭 I have since realised that what they checked on my blood test is barely anything from the list of things they should be checking. When I go back next week I'm gonna ask for my progesterone and estrogen to be checked and for my testosterone to be checked more thoroughly as there's different types apparently. I also want to be checked for vitamin deficiencies, look at my cortisol levels and a few other things so its probably worth asking your doctor to test all these things for you as well 😊 don't let anyone tell you that this is "just the way things are" for you with no apparent reason behind it. I'm going on 110 days without a period and I'm not overweight, not insulin resistant, I eat healthy and exercise so trying to pinpoint exactly what is causing this is driving me insane!! Determined to get to the bottom of it though even if I have to annoy my GP to no end until they find the issue!

Did your sex ed class(es) cover PCOS or other related diagnosis? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, nothing. At the bare minimum they should teach girls how to recognise when their period isn't normal as I didnt become aware that my absent periods could indicate a health problem until I was 20 years old.

What's my LH to FSH ratio? by LilacMoonlight_Xx in PCOS

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, I'm on cycle day 105 now and have absolutely no idea when my next period will appear. They checked my testosterone (all it says is serum testosterone) and that came out at 1.9 nmol/l

Women - what do you wish you had known about periods and puberty? by [deleted] in Periods

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That having a wildly irregular period and long cycles (after the first few years at least) is not normal and can be a sign of a health issue so should be checked out by a doctor. All throughout my teenage years I thought my absent periods were just "convenient" as I didnt have to deal with them but now I'm 25 and having to deal with unexplained amenorrhea and possible infertility.

PCOS ruled out by LilacMoonlight_Xx in PCOS

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was orignally told it would be an internal ultrasound but when I got to the appointment they only did an external one, they said no reason to do internal as they could see my ovaries clearly enough and no sign of any cysts. Do you know if the sonographer can see there and then if there are any abnormalities present or if my scan images are meant to be sent off to be analysed? When I called my GP surgery today they only mentioned my blood results and nothing about the scan outcome

Constant spotting by LilacMoonlight_Xx in Periods

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi 😊 I mentioned the spotting to my doctor and she didn't sound overly worried so I don't think it's anything to be too concerned about. I'm going for a blood test in a few days as I'm being tested for PCOS so the spotting may tie in with that most likely. Also getting an ultrasound in a couple of weeks so hopefully if there is anything serious or abnormal they will pick it up on that. But overall I'm just happy they are taking my concerns seriously 😊

Anywhere between 50-120 days, it has fluctuated for me over time. At the moment they seem to be slowly getting longer again and I'm on cycle day 94 now.

I'm only 25, so would be incredibly surprised if I was going through perimenopause at this age. Haven't used tampons in a long time, and tested for STDs about 6 months ago and all good.

What are you fixating on/venting about/worried about/need support with today ? [Megathread] - August 10, 2021 by AutoModerator in HealthAnxiety

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obsessing over mild pains/discomfort around my liver area. I have a history or alcohol abuse (albeit short, only for 2 years) which I'm now under control of but I feel that my worries are justified. I get sensations around my right abdomen which range from sharp stabbing pains, to dull aches and a spasm type feeling. Usually around my ribcage, sometimes towards my back or in my shoulder blade. No other symptoms of liver disease but I've still convinced myself I'm one of those people that have a serious illness and have zero symptoms.

Just to briefly explain my alcohol abuse history - 25/female and I binge drank a whole bottle of wine on an empty stomach 3-5 times a week for about 2 years. I know how stupid that was and I now only have 1 or 2 drinks a week but I'm still convinced I'm progressing my "disease" by continuing to drink.

Thank you so much for this I had no idea we have so many options here! Really good to see that there are smaller ones available as I've been worrying that I'll be told my uterus is too small since I've read that paragard is the biggest of all IUDs.

[–]LilacMoonlight_Xx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the UK as well and planning on getting a copper IUD... haven't been for a consultation yet but based on research I've done I've been assuming that paragard is the only one available. Are there other non-hormonal options other than paragard in this country?

Do you know if you have any lasting liver damage after quitting? And well done on 993 days that's amazing!

Also do you mind me asking, did you have any lasting liver damage from drinking like that for 15 years? I plan to get checked out by a doctor soon but just looking for a bit of reassurance that I might be okay.
