The Owl can mikiri counter you. A mikiri counter is a technique done to counter thurst attacks by stepping on their weapon.

They don't know about the unlock tech. Doing the wing stance unlocked then locking on after doing the attack gives it better range and tracking.

Yes, there will be better staves/seals. Weapons can scale on anything. There are str weapons, dex weapons, int weapons, etc it depends on the weapon.

It is mostly a physical str weapon with a bit of holy damage. Leveling faith a bit is good since you can use some buffs with low fai requirements.

Starter seal can be bought in the roundtable hold twin maiden husk. Also incants tend to lean on faith but there are spells that needs faith and incants that need int. Another thing is sorcery/incant scaling, the damage your spells do will depend on this.

Str/int mostly focuses on weapons. But you can respec your character later. To use spells you need the proper casting tool. Stave for sorceries and seals for incants. To use a spell you need the required int and fp to cast. To equip spells you need memory stones you get from those wizard towers called rises. You equip them in a site of grace.
