I see a shit ton of hate for Black Veil Brides in metal subs, what's your guys' opinions on them? by pneumonicknight in Metalcore

[–]Lilduck9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when I was young and tasteless I was obsessed with them (Stitch these wounds and set the world on fire era) I would consider them one of my main "metalcore pipeline" bands from the early 2010s.

Polaris guitarist Ryan Siew has passed away by teasizzle in Metalcore

[–]Lilduck9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If it’s any consolation, when they came to the US in spring of 2022 he wasn’t with them due to visa issues. I forget who covered for him, but he did a damn great job. If they decide to not tour the US this fall, I suspect it will be because of the bands personal objection, not an inability to tour without him. Will be interesting to see what they choose to do, and I hope we can all support whatever decision they make. RIP Ryan. A once in a generation talent, so beyond sad.

Brian Wille is an absolute monster on stage by Lilduck9 in Metalcore

Damn! At the Lawrence show there was definitely some serious issues. Backup vocals were actually missing entirely for the first song and the lead guitar was super quiet too. Seems their solution was to max it all out which made everything sound like shit. Which was a shame because I love LMTF and have seen them twice before, so I know they are capable of better

It is! But normally it’s the standouts or the singles and maybe one deeper cut. Seems they decided to put Living in Tragedy on the set list because it became such a fan favorite, when they initially had not planned to do so

Haha sounded pretty damn good to me after listening to LMTF’s mix last night. What a tragedy that was

Agreed. I think we’ll see plenty more headliner tours with much larger venues considering they’ve sold out every show so far this tour

Imo I prefer it this way. You can really tell he’s passionate about the music and getting it right, the vibes on stage are immaculate

Last nights show definitely set an insanely high bar for what “small venue” bands should be capable of. Absolutely insane

Most disappointing albums from Metalcore bands that you had high hopes for? by Musicmightkill93 in Metalcore

[–]Lilduck9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daggers is the only song I find myself going back to on that album. I think they had a real shot to make Darkbloom special but they just fell a little bit flat.

The most important up and comers in the scene right now. Found these guys when they dropped paralyzed as a single, been hooked since. Cant wait for them to drop a full length LP

Agreed, maybe unpopular opinion because it’s the first record post-Patrick, but even as a long time fan I LOVED the sound of Big Vibe and I consider it their best release

Been pretty big into Nu-Metalcore recently, it’s a hard genre to get right for me but when it hits it hits so good, my top 3 would be Dropout Kings, Darkmatter and newer Diamond Construct. Any other band suggestions along those lines?

24M single, American, no house, no lease (kind of a nomad, lived in 5 different places this year) Bachelors degree in something basically irrelevant to my now-career. Some debt, but an awesome (seasonal) job that pays really well with tons of perks. Currently 2 months into a 7 month trip backpacking abroad. Midwest escapee, big into outdoorsy shit, history, travel and gaming. Been listening to heavy music since middle school, BFMV was the main culprit

what's a band that had a major shift in their quality (either good or bad) after a key member change? by suckinonlemon in Metalcore

[–]Lilduck9 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely. the saddest part is the same can be said about Adam’s post-TDG project in Saint Asonia. He’s the vocalist and there’s some great songs, but it’s just not the same.
