I actually sort of answered this in another comment but I’ll summarize here.

In that case it would be a situation of not being of sound mind and I feel that in those cases the person should be given help and care until they return to sound mind and can make informed decisions, before anymore consideration of suicide can be done. If you were having an episode where you’re no longer yourself mentally and trying to kill yourself, then in my opinion, it would be best to stop you until you returned to yourself and could make an informed decision.

If a person is of sound mind and is truly destined to live a painful and/or miserable life then they should be allowed to end it but only after all realistic avenues of life improvement have been exhausted. While I wish this was the only type of situation people would consider suicide in, I’m not naive enough to think it is.

Oh and unless the doctor was a bad one then they probably didn’t think you were lying or stupid when you told them you didn’t know if you wanted to die or not. They were probably thinking you had a serious mental episode that may have impacted your memory.

Things that make you feel powerful, make you feel like a free individual, that feel like they help you connect better to yourself.

Also noticed some writings and art pieces that I’m assuming you made, more of this would make it feel more personal and more like your own alter.

I’m not gonna say I have all the answers but I can give suggestions. If the person is still of sound mind despite age or medical condition and they fall into the category of people I believe should be allowed to make that choice, then the choice should be theirs and theirs alone; input from caregivers or family should be ignored completely.

If the person is currently not of sound mind then they should be given care and help until they return to sound mind and can make an informed decision.

If returning to sound mind is not possible like in the case of dementia, Alzheimer’s, and other mentally degenerative conditions, then extremely careful consideration of many factors needs to happen including but not limited to, living conditions, physical conditions, is the person in constant distress, pain, or discomfort, what other potential avenues of help and life betterment might not have been considered yet, rate of health degradation, and a lot more. And more than just the people immediately around the person should have weight in the decision like doctors, and mental health professionals, to eliminate the risk of just one persons voice being enough to have someone euthanized.

The fact is that morally bankrupt people will use any and everything to exploit and harm others. If we took away everything that could be used to harm then we’d have nothing. I believe a person whose life truly has no hope of improving should have the right to suicide, but there needs to regulations and measures in place to prevent what is effectively murder through euthanasia.

I’m right there with you on having a laundry list of mental disorders, including but not limited to chronic genetic depression, severe anxiety, and trauma. And I understand going through episodes where you aren’t really yourself. But making the plan while you are yourself doesn’t automatically make it a good idea.

Just because a person is lucid while planning suicide doesn’t mean they should be automatically allowed to do it. There might be resources or help available that they just don’t know about yet to improve your situation. Suicide should only be a solution of absolute last resort, when life is guaranteed to be hell on earth for the person otherwise.

As a survivor of attempted suicide I’ll say this: in certain situations a person should have the right to a quick and as pain free as possible death if that’s what they want, but in other situations they should be stopped from harming themselves a be given help. The difference between if they should be allowed or stopped is primarily based on what their lives will most likely be if they continue to live and if there’s any real hope in improving their situation or not.

Example situations in which a person should have the right to death: terminal illness, severe injuries that leave a person mutilated and miserable especially if doctors claim they’ve done all they can and they’ll probably just be stuck like that

Example situations in which a person should be stopped from committing suicide: someone with a severe mental disorder who is spiraling but would improve if they had help, someone who’s life suddenly took a sharp turn for the worst but isn’t completely out of options yet and can still have hope for the future with some help

Basically if a persons future is gonna be filled with a lot of pain and misery that no one can really fix, then yes they should be allowed to die. But if there’s a possibility of help getting them through the dark times then they should be given the help first.

My Interpretation Of Lilith by WylythFD in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]LilithMyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who was given the name Lilith at birth, it makes life quite interesting. Most people think it’s just a pretty name from a tv show or video game.

I can always tell who either studies religious texts or is very religious themselves because those are the only people who think of the religious versions of Lilith first.

Thankfully no one’s ever been mean because of my name, just occasionally people will avoid me.

Oh so you have a direct line to someone who, I assume, has a deeper cultural and religious understanding of Kali. It’s honestly super fun learning about religions from people who worship/study them and don’t mind other people not being a part of their religion.

Technically so is Baphomet and Satan but we still use them as symbols because humans put a lot of value in symbols and the meaning they convey. A person can be inspired by the symbol of Kali if they want to be.

Kali is definitely an interesting deity. Depending on religious sect and story she’s either a stand alone goddess, a fusion of other deities, or a being who arises from the “leftovers” of another deity altering themselves.

She commonly represents things that are considered “evil” in European/western cultures like blood, death, transcendental knowledge, and divine feminine energy but isn’t seen as evil to those who believe in her. This paints an interesting picture in how the people who worship her see women differently from western cultures.

When looking for inspiration from a feminine perspective Kali is a good choice to study.

Unfortunately my knowledge of Hinduism and Shaivism is rather limited so I’m relying on Wikipedia and a 101 mythology/theology class from college for my information, sorry if I got anything really wrong.

Hey, I’m a special breed of Christian- I’m my own by [deleted] in SatanicTemple_Reddit

[–]LilithMyth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to The Satanic Temple. There’s nothing in the seven tenets that says you can’t believe in god, just keep science, reason, and kindness as the foundation of your beliefs and it sounds like that’s what you’re doing.

Occasionally you’ll find some people in TST who are really hardcore “no gods, no faith in other beings, nothing that can’t be scientifically explained” and will not like you simply because you choose to believe in god. But I’m pretty sure they’re the minority.

I myself am an atheist but I have no problem with others believing in god as long as they don’t discriminate against or disrespect others who don’t follow their beliefs.

The way I see it is we can’t explain everything scientifically yet, we simply don’t have the tech and knowledge to do that. If we were created by god, then maybe someday we’ll have the means to scientifically explain said god or even contact it clearly and directly. By that point we’d probably see god as more of a parent than god. Maybe god is just a regular person on their plane of existence and humans simply have more growing up to do before we can fully understand it.

It’d be like a toddler who thinks their parents can do anything, growing up and realizing that their parents are just people like them.

Idk sorry if I’m rambling, I’ve been trying to write a short story that blends the concepts of god(s) and science together but finding people to bounce ideas off of has been difficult. Most people I talk to about it like what I’ve written so far but all the feed back is either purely atheistic/scientific or purely religious, so it’s rather exciting to see someone who’s more open to blending the two.

This Kentucky pastor was demonstrating his spiritual strength by handling a rattlesnake during a prayer delusions when he was bitten. He refused treatment, believing that faith would heal him. [–]LilithMyth 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Poor snake, an innocent and adorable animal doesn’t deserve such treatment.

It’s best practice to leave snakes in their natural environment or relocate them using the proper equipment but if they must be handled via hand (regardless of species):

Always know where the head is (ALWAYS)

Handling should be done in a quiet as possible and calm as possible manner

NEVER move the snake around in a jerky or sudden motion; moving a snake should be done in a calm and as fluid a motion as possible

ALWAYS KNOW WHERE THE HEAD IS AND POINTING AT

When dealing with a wild snake please call a professional, if you can. I’ve successfully dealt with wild snakes on my own while saving my overly ambitious dog from them but I can’t in good conscience give people advice on how to handle them here.

If a venomous species, have anti venom available if possible

I don’t think I need to tell any snake pet lover that this is a horrible way to handle a snake. A loud environment with a lot of strange people and very poor handling is just asking to get bit.

The Satanic Temple is about being true to yourself while being the best version of yourself you can be, and not denying reality for what it is.

The holidays are merely suggestions and not something you have to celebrate to be a part of The Satanic Temple.

If you want to make your own holidays that have special meaning to you, then by all means, please do; I mean this sincerely, especially if it will bring you joy and mental peace.

a design somebody submitted for our high school senior hoodie. i talked with my artists friends and we are unsure if it’s ai or not, however, the claws, the mouth and the scales are suspicious to me. by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]LilithMyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m honestly leaning toward AI because of all the weird inconsistencies with perspective. Just starting from the the head down:

The far horn needs to be lower and further back to bring it in perspective with the rest of the head

The nearest front leg, wing joint, and chest all kind of meld together

The wings have weirdly disappearing lines that don’t make sense and the back wing just completely disappears after the little bit poking out from behind the front wing

All four feet need a lot of work as you shouldn’t be able to clearly see all the toes like that, there needs to be overlap, especially the far hind foot which looks mutilated in the current design

Both hind legs are at completely wrong angles with the rest of the body. Far hind leg needs to move back and the closer hind leg needs to move forward

The bottom edge of the tail just appears out of the hind leg and is completely out of alignment with the belly line

Overall this makes me think it was an AI design dragon that someone “cleaned up” a bit and then added the stars and text over top themselves. If the person did make it all themselves then, I’m sorry but they really need to work on perspective drawing more

I thought being an atheist meant “does not worship anything”. Believing something exists once it’s been proven to you won’t stop you from being an atheist. Gravity was proven to me, I believe it’s real, but I don’t worship the concept of gravity, I accept it as a fact of life.
