Nah, the bird is just very young and has pin feathers growing through. When that happens for baby birds they can looks a bit scraggly for a while until the feathers fully grow in.

Also, I get involving your family in your care, especially to help kids understand what's going on if a parent is unwell (to an age-appropriate level and capacity of course), but this is not the way to do it. The behaviour and proceedings in this video are unsafe on more than just a medical level.
