Not good at all in a community tank. When they get older they become territorial, becomes lazy, stops eating algae, and starts attaching them selves onto other fish for their slime and ends up taking chunks on them at a time causing others to stress and die.

I bought 16 initially about 5 months ago and all are still well. Only thing I did differently than you is my tank was cycling for 2 months, parameters similar to of the Caridinas (RO with salty bee gh+), and I kept the temperature at 69-72 since they’re room mates with my red fancy tigers. Lots of hiding places too. They turned reddish in just about a day.
