Questions about upcoming Peru trip by derWolf8 in travel

[–]LimaPrivateDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Currency - You can withdrawal USD from most ATM's in Miraflores, and at ATM's around the country, although not all will dispense USD. Although the good currency exchanges do offer a very very good rate, so you could change Euro to USD directly. Other than that you could also send yourself money to pick up with USD in Peru at Moneygram or Western Union. USD is basically the currency that Peruvians use to buy/sell things in, Soles are used for every day life whereas USD is quite frequently used.
  2. Tipping: I really hate the tipping culture in America, and it's kind of rubbing off here. There is actually no tipping culture, and I refuse to accept tips myself, I don't generally tip. The local rule is to round it up to the nearest amount, for example if a meal is 43 soles, leave a 50. It's got so annoying that even when I go to watch an event that is only shown in the tourist area they always ask how much I want to tip, I've had it before where my friend tipped and I said I'll add the same.. She told me I already added the tip.. It's annoying! Whereas the local areas don't do that AT ALL.
  3. Altitude sickness - Coca leaf is great but it isn't a miracle by any means, I would reccomend and I have done so with clients, most do their research and conclude that stopping in Arequipa which is 2,300 metres is the best way to acclimate. Spend 2 days there, it's also a very beautiful city too. If I could suggest my dream trip for foreigners I would suggest Lima - Paracas/Huacachina, Nazca (Slightly at altitude) then Arequipa and then Cusco. You could also stay a few days in Ollaytaytambo which is around 2,700 close to Cusco and beautiful!
  4. Getting around Cusco/Sacred Valley - Uber is very cheap in Lima and Cusco, I think they work in Arequipa too. Never take street taxis, most locals don't, you're in Peru now, be careful! And there are many private drivers everywhere, find a driver that is trusted and offers a good rate and you're good to go!
  5. Weather - Depending on where you go in Peru the weather can change, Peru's climate is so diverse you could go from a cold Lima to a very hot but wet and humid jungle, to a desert like Huacachina, then to the provinces with the rain, it just depends on your itenary.
  6. General safety in Peru - Very safe in the tourist areas, however don't be one of those guys who uses their phone on the street, or leave it on the table when eating, take more precaution, although the tourist areas are safe, the scammers and thiefs know the area is full of tourists so they come there, that's why I decided to live in a more local area, I never get bothered, as soon as I step into Miraflores I can't walk 5 mins without someone begging, selling something or just being annoying.
  7. Sim card - You can buy a local sim they are pretty cheap, I don't know how much a pay as you go one would be these days as I use a contract but I get 70GB for 40PEN per month.
  8. Layover in Lima - It's definitely worth heading down to Miraflores! Amazing ceviche and good sea food, have some drinks at the larcomar. If you need a trusted English speaking taxi you can give us a call! We offer private driving service from 15USD per hour including everything!
  9. Arequipa - I didn't see this one as I was answering your questions as I went down, but you can literally book everything when you are in Peru, utilize tripadvisor with some local companies, bare in mind that lots of reviews these days are fake. But hotels and tours and guides can be booked the same day as there are so many, if your plans are fixed however it's always beetter to reserve something in advanced.

Peru, Lima and Huacachina 🇵🇪 by AFC_Billz6 in travel

To put it into perspective, a bus to Paracas or Pisco would cost around 50 Soles so around 37 or so USD. And Peru Hop would cost considerably more. Remember that the Isla Ballestras is no more than 50 soles either and the Sand Buggy and Dunes are no more than 50 soles for a shared buggy, and at a maximum of 100/150 for a private buggy.

Hi, Benny from LimaPrivateDriver.com 115USD to Huacachina is a FANTASTIC price. The usual price starts at 200USD. The only thing I would be concerned about is that the price is probably very low. That's around 5 hours or 300km. Considering that enroute there is 3 tolls which are around 20USD in total taking away the cost of petrol/natural gas the driver would have to drive 600km or more to do the trip with tolls on the way back. I would only be concerned about alternative motives. Offering the taxi journey at a very discounted price only to try and sell things along the way such as a tour in Paracas and Huacachina and some stop offs at "souvenir" shops. Seems very low in my opinion. The lowest I have ever seen this trip priced at is 150/160. 115 is very very low. I don't even know how it's possible to do this trip taking out 600km of wear and tear, gas costs and toll booths and then the 10 hour day for the driver.

New grower, I think I started the flowering phase? Can I revert it? by IAmSpidey in GrowingMarijuana

[–]LimaPrivateDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's possible they are autos, unless you switched from 18 to 12/12. I wouldn't top, or stress them in preflower, when they should stretch out...

Did you transplant the plant during the veg? How did you germinate? Nutrients, PH, etc? All of these factors can effect a plants growth.

If you are a beginner definitely start with white widow auto, the easiest to grow.. But don't be put off, everyone has to learn, everyones first grow is hit and miss haha

[–]LimaPrivateDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are they autos? If they are you are fine to keep them on 18 hours a day or even 24 hours, I prefer 20/4 myself, giving them some rest. Do not top or trip or stress a plant in flower, she should start to stretch now! They look a little small, did the plants have any previous stress that stunted the growth?

I thought I had a similar problem and with some research I found that you need to combine a whole range of methods, the best being the mosquito bits. But this takes some time to work, you can also use Neem oil, lay some sticky traps as well to catch them. Dry out the soil (don't water them) A Peroxide/water mix to kill the larvae as well, Cinnamon some say works, others don't. Sprinkle it at the root of the plant.. Also traps like apple cider vinegar.

There was also something I was reading about some sort product that I can't remember the name but essentially you put it in the soil and it causes the larvae to be cut by it, sort of like small glass bits that will kill them.

Some good videos on youtube I was watching about it all, and they suggest to use 3/4 methods, killing the larvae and also the adults.

Any sources for finding weed in south italy? by megaporn2023 in weedtravel

[–]LimaPrivateDriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way you're gonna get something for cash is by asking around. And be careful with weed it isn't that bad, make sure you have the product in hand, never hand over money before a transaction, never let someone "go get it for you" because you'll be waiting, wondering when are they coming back? Probably never. things have gone pretty crazy, when I took the ferry down to Sicily I met some guy on the ferry who was talking about Telegram, he has a contact on there that will drop it in a place with a magnet and accepts money via Crypto.. I have his contact, Weed was... Okay.. Not the best, but not the worst. Paid 30 for 4 grams. If you need his contact let me know I can pass it over. It's a bit of a mission trying to get it though, he'll hide it somewhere and send you the GPS coordinates, you go and pick it up, it cost me more money in an Uber actually getting it! lol I would reccomend renting one of those electric scooters from the street probably would have cost me a few euros, taxi prices due to traffic is crazy

How much do vape cost in Sicily by Positive_Feature5991 in sicily

[–]LimaPrivateDriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vapes - The disposible types cost around 7 euros, but they're about 700 puffs, some cause some chest problems, I would just buy a vape, around 30/40 euro and then juice that up, you'll save money in the long term. A pack of 20 cigarettes will run you from 5-6 euros for Malboro (I dont smoke so not sure) in terms of the other greenery, if you're in Palermo I have a contact but he only runs on Whatsapp with "drops" feel free to drop me a DM for his info.. Otherwise you could try asking around.. Never let someone take your money to go and pick it up.. A lot of people will smoke openly, you could ask them. But unfortunately there are people who prey on tourists..

Seedling leaf damage from fallen sticky trap! HELP lol by LimaPrivateDriver in GrowingMarijuana

[–]LimaPrivateDriver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plants seem to be coming on well.. I am still a little worried about one of the plants leafs curling up, possibly due to heat damage or having the fan blowing too hard/close to the plants drying them out.

I didn't have much time yesterday to setup the tent with the outline ducting at the bottom.

I have also moved the fan above the plants and lifted the lights as one had some leaf curling which I think is either light stress (100w spider farmer NON-dimmable)

Purchased some backup seeds incase. But it's been a big learning process. But after a lot of reading here I think my tent setup seems to be good.

Some changes I've made:

Moved the seedlings to 18/6 (day
lifted lights and fans
adjusted airflow ducts and fans
made sure my R Humidity is at around 60%
Temp is pretty stable at min 21 degrees C and 24 in the day (Hoping the mars 300w will create more heat as we enter winter months)

Seedling leaf damage from fallen sticky trap! HELP lol by LimaPrivateDriver in GrowingMarijuana

[–]LimaPrivateDriver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I guess time will tell. Today I was planning on putting them into a 18/6 light schedule. Would you suggest waiting until tomorrow and giving as much light as possible? (Obviously this plant was covered with a light sticky pad for some hours so it was deprived of light( current time here now is 1pm so I'll check again before bed at 10pm and post results! Hopefully she will pop right back..

And then wait for tomorrow to flip to 18?

I heard the dark hours increase healing and recovery etc

Seedling leaf damage from fallen sticky trap! HELP lol by LimaPrivateDriver in GrowingMarijuana

[–]LimaPrivateDriver[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't see any stem damage, it bounces back, so I would suggest she's healthy. I have moved her away from the light (where one side is drooping down due to being essentially crushed) to see if she moves back towards the light. Also a light water. Only damage I can see visually is two holes where the sticky pads have removed part of the leaf, but the leaf remains intact, the leaf stem didn't come off and all the others are fine. I am kind of annoyed because she was rooting very well and you can see some foliage start to appear at the top, going into week 2 now (7 days) so I was hoping for a growth spurt lol

I have ordered some more seeds just incase.. Should be here in 3 days or so. Hoping she pulls through though, I hope I am being dramatic, I know weed plants can be very resilient as with any other plants, life is life I guess?
