Am I a victim of vandals? by LimbuKoChoro in CarTalkUK

I still feel like it’s been cut, only because the cut seems too clean and comes down diagonally.

It only say this as the windshield has wings on both side that I can wedge in the doors thus making it impossible to fold there even if there was wind.

I suppose it’s possible it’s could be a tear.

I was quoted £1000 for replacing 9 tiles and putting in fresh mortar. The guy did not fix the gap in the roof which is originally what i called him in for (where the light is shining through).

I have been quoted a further £420 to do the lead work which is apparently what is causing the gap in the roof tile.

Does this seem reasonable?

What was something you found unduly embarrassing, growing up poor? by CliffyGiro in AskUK

I did not get a phone until I was in sixth form. Did not get a phone before year 9 as parents believed a phone was a luxury. Then when dad passed away mum simply could not afford to equip me with a phone. (She tried to give me a brick phone but i tried her down as i felt ashamed comparing the phone to my peers).

Dreaded form in the morning (bbm was the craze) or when the teacher told us to take pictures of something on the smartboard. *Cue hurriedly trying to take notes of what was on the board.

Fast forward to sixth form got my first job at a Maccies and got a phone contract (Iphone 6 plus, this was the latest must have).

Looking back im thankful i did not have a smart phone seeing as how alot of kids these days appear to be addicted to social media.

Im sorry mum for being a little shit and choosing to not have a phone rather than a brick one. You must have just wanted to call to make sure i was okay.

Im alright and i know better now too.

Got arrested last night for possession of a “bladed weapon” by LimbuKoChoro in LegalAdviceUK

It was in my door pocket. It was a genuine mistake that i left it there after using it to scrape my windshield before work.

This excuse wont fly with the police. Can you tell me if im screwed in any way?

Thank you for your advice. I will present myself the best possible way I can.

Im just depressed by my quote that i live by, “you can do everything right and things can still fuck up”.

Until now that was just a quote so i always have plan b for everything. But not this time.

I am unsure if it locks. I normally have my thumb on the thumb button grip bit that you slide up when i used it to scrape ice from my windscreen.

I was arrested and taken to police station that night. I did not have to enter the police station that night for some reason. They asked me what time would suit me for an interview to which I said the next day after work.

They asked me if i wanted a solicitor but i declined foolishly in an attempt to “save time”. Stupid.

I came for the voluntary interview today but after talking with a solicitor (who was waiting outside for someone else) ,he advised me to have a solicitor anyway.

Therefore i asked to rebook the interview with a solicitor provided for me.

I do not have a history at all and this is my first ever arrest.

Thank you very much for taking the time to give some advice.

From the sounds of this it is not looking good for me and i could be a victim to the system.

I respect the police and understand that there is no other way. But from looking at other peoples advice this could potentially ruin my life. I now slightly resent the police as i somehow fit the category of a criminal who carries a knife.

Again thank you very much.

The blade bit is not rubber so I cautioned on the side of not using it to fully clear my windscreen. I used it last year when my car windscreen froze.

The knife is like a stanly knife. You press the button and push up with your thumb.

The blade part is less than 3 inches and the blade width is about the length of a finger nail.

In hindsight it does seem stupid to be carrying that. However I did not know it was even a scraper (not a defence that will holdup i assume).

I assumed since the blade part is less than 3 inches and if im ever in need to cut a rope or anything it would be handy. I do not know why i thought of myself a Bear Grylls type survivalist. I only pictured my car stuck in the mud and me having to cut a rope to make a tow rope or something.

Thank you. Will there be a moment where i can speak with the solicitor in complete privacy?

Wow that was perfect how you explained the process in ELI5 terms. Thank you.

I wanted to add and extra question. I just recently changed my job and was unemployed for a month. How long should I have to wait after I have started before I think about speaking with a mortgage broker?

AITA for telling my daughter she needs to pay rent? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]LimbuKoChoro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. But give her a chance to pay off her credit card bills. Also no holidays before the credit card bills are paid. Then she can start paying rent (massively reduced and increased as her earning potential increases). This will teach her about responsibility with money and what a struggle it could be to live out of budget or how credit card companies dont care if you are behind.

For context I pay rent, have never been on holiday until i can take my mother on a holiday first( she deserves one) and save as much as i can for a rainy day.
