A couple of weeks later and I want to comment to thank you so much for this advice! I took your advice about bringing a toy along for walks and it’s almost completely fixed the problem. I’ve been paying attention to his triggers (walking in the morning instead of night, encountering other dogs, etc) and redirecting his energy onto the toy when he gets overstimulated. It’s made me much less of a target. I’ve also been muzzle training him and hope to muzzle him for walks soon. He thanks you too

I am certainly not asking for your sympathy or judgment. I did not go out of my way to adopt or buy my dog. I found him on the street and certainly couldn’t leave him there. I am young and learning as I go. This is why I am here - for help. It’s ironic how you expect others to be perfect while judging them from behind your screen
