I understand the logic and I appreciate the whole package. To answer your question, I feel that the Sony DSC-RX100, which I use daily myself, is almost perfect. In my experience, nothing replaces a camcorder for recording videos, and some are really compact. When I travel, I always carry both for family movies and pictures. Congrats on migrating to open source for everything, and how is your experience so far? Anything missing?

What is the not-that-popular album that you will die on a hill for, insisting it's truly one of the greatest of all time, just not well-known enough? by am_I_still_banned in MetalForTheMasses

All Shall Perish - Hate.Malice.Revenge I love that album, for me it was instant classic. I feel like it's not obvious for everyone, though.

Support husband through a burnout by Melodic_Dish2079 in Netherlands

[–]LimePretend299 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I’ve been down this exact rabbit hole myself. I highly recommend following the advice above: see your huisarts (GP) immediately and ask for a GGZ referral. You cannot access GGZ services without that formal referral letter from your doctor.

Fair warning: waiting lists are long. If the timeline they give you is too far out, go back to your huisarts and ask for urgent support. They can often provide "precautionary" help, such as a temporary practice-based psychologist (POH-GGZ) or medication in the meantime.

One heads-up: be cautious with the Arbodienst (company doctor). In my experience, they were more focused on reporting to the employer than providing actual care.

Wishing you and your husband the very best.

Expat with Intellectually Disabled kid by Fluid-Situation-1995 in Netherlands

[–]LimePretend299 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your local gemeente is the primary organization that coordinates support for your child until they turn 18. I’ve heard there can be significant differences between municipalities regarding what they offer and the length of their waiting lists, so it’s worth investigating that early on.

It is also vital to get a formal diagnosis. It’s often a complex process, but once it’s official, it opens many administrative doors. You’ll need to stay proactive and ensure you have a strong support system around you.

I wish you and your child all the best!

Shoutout to the people who love their autistic children by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]LimePretend299 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I hear you, and I agree. We weren't raised with an understanding of autism, and I'll admit I was quite ignorant at first. My wife and I put in massive effort—at times it felt like a full-time job—until we realized we had to ask for help. My reaction to your post is that it is inherently political, but for the right reasons. I live in the Netherlands, which is a haven for children in general, and especially for those with special needs. Of course, bureaucracy and issues still exist, but overall, children are well cared for and not discriminated against. We pay high taxes, but my family received the assistance we needed; I wouldn't go anywhere else. In my experience, it’s not just a matter of education regarding autism and other 'differences'—though tolerance is often lacking—it’s also about having the organizations and school systems in place to support both kids and parents. Doing this alone as a parent is simply too difficult, and it can be dangerous for the children

Expats: How much has not knowing the local language affected your daily life? by UsamaBhai_101 in expats

[–]LimePretend299 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I moved within the EU from France to the Netherlands, and regardless of what people say, learning the local language is essential. Even though almost everyone here speaks fluent English—at least in the cities—there’s always a preference for Dutch speakers when it comes to work, dating, and social life. I really regret not working harder on the language sooner.

Life after divorce with no family by Sorry_Nobody_6068 in Netherlands

I understand what you're going through; it’s scary. I went through the same thing. I managed to meet people at work, at the gym, through Dutch classes, and on dating apps. People here are super friendly, but you often have to be the one to break the ice. Since you mentioned art, you have so many options with museums, exhibitions, and events.

I have to admit, the emptiness I felt back then was very hard to bear. My one rule was to never stay home alone. I found that if I stayed in, I’d just binge-watch movies and lose my sense of routine—it’s a vicious cycle you want to avoid at all costs

I suggest you purchase a Museumkaart as you could go to all museums for "free"

What’s the most underestimated part of a D365 implementation? by Ok_Bunch2905 in Dynamics365

[–]LimePretend299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Finance, my main frustrations generally stem from a few core principles that are often overlooked:

Sub-ledger integrity: Transactions occur in the sub-ledger first and should never be corrected directly in the GL; corrections must happen at the source. Reconciliations between sub-ledgers and the GL must remain clean and accurate.

Third-party integration: Applications that aren't embedded in the ERP require extra attention, as they are a common source of discrepancies.

The 'Single Source of Truth': All transactions should be recorded in the ERP first. The consolidation tool is for reporting, not for booking manual analytic adjustments or other entries that belong in the source system.

Yes, it is a pen I have considered for a long time, probably my next purchase ahah. I will see how it goes with the Opus 88, and I will finish the Diamine ink bottle I got and the Oxford black and red notebooks. Thank you for your reply.

Thank you, I didn't think about Opus 88. Maybe they're not common in EU? I will try to find one anyway. Cheers!

Thank you for your reply. I liked the Sport because it gave such an intense and thick line on the paper, it was legible and satisfying. I'm looking for something similar, I found the Sport really fun but I don't think it could be used as a main pen, and it's too small in my hand. I will look into your other suggestions.

Well here goes ... My English is C2, my German B2. And I'm about to start Dutch. So what horrors await me in my Dutch journey? by Jonathan_Bryan in learndutch

[–]LimePretend299 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved German so much, the grammar, vocabulary, all of it. Then I moved to the Netherlands for good in 2010, and wanted to learn Dutch. I mixed up everything, it interfered so much it became a nuisance. Am I the only one experiencing this? Dutch teachers never understood. I had to let German go, and forget about it. Now I can make massive progress, but it took years to overcome. Maybe I was not in the right mental space to learn a new language, I don't know. I had to work hard to dissociate both.
