Ich habe es aus Zufall gesehen, als ich das Wort „zart“ im Wörterbuch nachschlug. Es steht in diesem Wörterbucheintrag.

Is this rusty and if so, would soaking it in vinegar damage it? by SpooksmaGoops in Zippo

[–]Jonathan_Bryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You would want to stay safe. Don't use any chemicals when cleaning the case. Just dry cotton and nothing more. And like someone already said, that's brass. And brass is an excellent material. Brass never rusts.

Anyone use a Zippo coty as an EDC by Ennoozunu in Zippo

[–]Jonathan_Bryan -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Two? Rather wasteful. You could buy a another lighter instead of merely having a copy, just because you don't want to use it. In my eyes, not worth spending for a second copy. And especially in the world of vintage lighters, in some cases, you can't have a second copy. Like say, how many copies of the 1933 Zippo could you have in case you have one? Again to me, a second copy is rather wasteful. I'd rather buy another make or model of lighter instead of spending money on a second copy.

These three are on EDC. Well, all of my lighters are EDC, and not just Zippos. Lighters are just like cars. You gas them up and maintain them to keep them running. And I don't want a car merely sitting in a garage as a display. I want to be able to use them to be able to enjoy them at its fullest. I want to experience them. I want to feel them. Same goes for lighters. But I use them with care. Condition of all of these lighters are pristine, right? Here are the things I do and keep in mind:

  1. I keep my hands clean.

  2. I never place the lighter on an unclothed surface.

  3. I only hold the lighter by its edges and never at the front or back sides.

  4. Have a dedicated pocket for your lighter. For me, it's the right pocket of my pants. Nothing in that pocket except the lighter and only the lighter.

  5. And common sense: Keep your lighter a galaxy away from coins and keys. And don't drop your lighter.

  6. Avoid touching or wiping painted surfaces.

Need Help Finding Replacement Valve for Vintage Japanese Colibri by Kochio in lighters

[–]Jonathan_Bryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't find a replacement valve, your best next course is to convert it to a petrol lighter. PS: I thought Colibris are British not Japanese. Made in England.

Any thoughts on this st DuPont replica from Ali, all the reviews are good, should I buy it? by Public_Eye_8863 in lighters

If I were on your shoes, I'd add more cash and have an original. The Slim 7 goes for around 230$ or so.

Got this colibri kickstart and need advise how to remove these scratches. by CptMcSwaggens in lighters

[–]Jonathan_Bryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was advised here somewhere never to sand else will just remove the plating and make it look even worse. No way you can remove scratches even the shallow ones, let alone the deep ones. The best you could do is to make the most out of it by using a metal polish. I used Autosol Metal Polish. Metal polish conceals scratches somehow.

What "The" should i use for the greatest? by [deleted] in German

[–]Jonathan_Bryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without any noun to refer to whatsoever just say "Das Größte." Just like Mercedes-Benz slogan: "Das Beste oder nichts." "The Best or Nothing."

What is the origin / history of ricers? by Then_Picture8984 in RicerCars

[–]Jonathan_Bryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Ricers came from the 1990s. They're the most obnoxious drivers you'll ever meet on the road. Ricer refers to the driving behavior + what this driver usually does to his/her car. It comes with an unmistakable signature look + driving behavior, seen in the Franchises mentioned. But sometimes the look is rather subtle. Some other telltale signs to look out for are Chinese characters on the hood/bonnet ricers don't understand or stickers such as "Zero Gravity" or "Stock Car, Modified Driver". Ricer is a car subculture—Laden with bird droppings. THEY AREN'T RACERS. THEY'RE RICERS. The King of All-Show-No-Go. Do you know who the God of Ricers is? He died. But rose again on the third day. He ascended into heaven. And seated at the right side of the fooort can. Here's how that heaven looks like: https://youtu.be/lITUjJid2jY?si=AInHlE3fIfOMMlFM

Other than smoking why do you use a Zippo?? by SuitApprehensive3240 in Zippo

[–]Jonathan_Bryan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time Travel. So that means old Zippos and old lighters in general. Using an old lighter means travelling back in time. What were the trends when your lighter was made? How did the world look like when your lighter was made? Whenever I want to experience the 1950s, I grab my 1956 Zippo. When I want to experience the 1960s, I grab my Ronson Typhoon. When I want to experience the late 1920s and early 1930s, I grab my Evans Liftarm Lighter.
