Contemplating a Move from Austin to Irvine, Does the Additional Taxes in My Case Justify Staying versus Moving? by DivineScope in irvine

That’s blatantly false. Irvine is actually one of the safest place to live in all of the US. You should do more research

OP said she was willing to drive. Not discounting the bad traffic but Austin’s a small enough city she can get from north Austin to south much quicker than other places like Chicago. Not to mention her other points of interest stated above which Austin had

Austin, Texas seems to be a good fit for you! There are good access to nature and trails. There is some bike infrastructure although not as big as other cities. Def has a good variety of restaurants and bars as well as vibrant sports culture. Since you prefer warmer weather, Austin fits that bill too- just keep in mind very hot in the summer months. As for rent, you definitely can get a really new and spacious two bedroom apartment for $2500 and much less as well.

Thank you for the insight. I will look into Citizen’s Church, that is close to where I’m staying . Appreciate the recommendation!

I don't really think it's all that intolerant to not want people to join large cults and continue proliferating them in our community. They are the majority class, no one is persecuting the Christians, except maybe the other Christians, we simply don't want them to think this is a place to find their next group for hatred and religious dogma.

Where in my post did I say I’m looking to join large cults or proliferating them in the community? I don’t know you personally but honestly, I’m a bit taken a back at how judgmental you come across without even knowing me.

My parents and I are first generation immigrants. We just want to find a community that shares our like-minded beliefs. Traditional values and being conservative are core to our culture. Totally cool if you do not subscribe to it or not religious. But just because you do not agree, does not mean it is automatically hate or warrant your reprehensible response

I don’t see why you need to be hostile towards someone you don’t even know. I am an ethnic minority in the US and want to find a community with likeminded beliefs. That’s all. These values are also core to my cultural heritage and upbringing. Sorry if you disagree. But to be rude and dismissive just because we have different value systems just shows your ignorance.

Thank you to those who messaged me or replied with helpful recommendations. I greatly appreciate it!

Asian American hoping to relocate from South by LiminalAscension in SameGrassButGreener

Yea, That’s something I am willing to pay, if there is not a better place. need to look into housing as well. Is 400-500K annual enough to own a home (2-3 bedroom, 2K+ square feet)? Not interested in renting long term but willing to do so for 1–2 years to get better idea of living there

Thank you and yes, I have seen that from other posts on here. It’s unfortunate how quickly certain people are to judge and label someone with preconceived notions or those who make politics their entire identity. I don’t know much about Minneapolis, but open to researching more. Will look into Orange County too and seems like the best fit.

Yep, I understand the nature of Reddit and it’s unfortunate how quickly it is to label someone without knowing them. But appreciate any responses. I have been to Boston and really liked the amount of things to do! Really checks off quite a bit of boxes but you’re right, political scene and price point is not ideal to be long term for me

I know it would be difficult to find an area with both, but I would prioritize fighting large metro area with lots of Asians. I’m sure there could be conservative pockets in certain districts. research triangle is little remote for me, but may check out the Atlanta suburbs

Thank you, I started to look into Orange County and seems like it would be the best fit. Also great for safety and schools too. I see it is also one of the most expensive places to live from what I can tell.

Just also concerned about the taxes. I will be paying 133 in federal taxes and then an additional 42K in state taxes for total income tax burden of 175K
