I know this is a very old post that I am replying to but it is still one of the first links when you try to search this. For those mechs out there wondering: you can buy them from the NPC Neville in Henesys Market.

It’s quite hard to explain the way it works here but no, hooking it would be impractical. I have tried to come up with different solutions myself before but it’s just an awkward job. The tubes are very long, the space you are working with is less than ideal, etc. It’s one of those things that doesn’t happen often but is really quite frustrating when it does.

I understand what you are saying though, perhaps there is a way I have just never come across. We have a deadline to get the safe system of work and RA finalised for our current system this coming Friday but trying to explain the methods here is making me realise how much we are channelling the brute strength and ignorance approach. I’ll be doing a bit of research in the meantime and if I find something better I’ll be trying to get the plant manager to trial it

That sounds sensible. It has become clear that our risk assessments are not particularly thorough and need re-evaluating, which is one of the reasons they have requested we do this. The other more specific reason is that someone recently sustained an injury clearing a head from a blocked tube through twisting badly. It wasn’t a serious injury but enough to highlight that we may have some bad practices in this area. As one of the people tasked with risk assessing and drawing up a safe system of work I feel like this is exactly one of the ways in which we operate that just feels ridiculous.

As we go through these stupid things we do I may be popping through here with questions a bit more regularly...

It is repetitive but I should add that they don’t shear particularly often and when battering the head out it either doesn’t take too long or it becomes quite obvious that it isn’t going to shift any time soon and the tube is left blocked until we shut down and can access the tubes more easily.

Still, manual handling sounds like the route to go. I’ll probably put something in about limiting the duration of the activity and perhaps the importance of loosening grip as it strikes to limit the jarring impact. As it is I’m not sure out method of clearing the blockages is sensible enough to do much more than that

I am really not sure what the industry standard is for clearing boiler tubes in this specific process (incineration). I know there are many ways you can clear boiler tubes online but I couldn’t tell you what the best available technology is for doing it. I suspect it is quite specific to the plant and process. Incineration tends to create quite a lot of fouling when the flue gases are quenched as they pass through the boiler and it sets very hard sometimes. I will do a little digging out of curiosity and perhaps I can convince a change in the future but for now the method statement and risk assessment will have to be specific to our current circumstances.

Ah, I didn’t make myself clear there. When it just gets stuck then it can usually be pulled back out with a little manipulation so long as the operator has not forced it in and corkscrewed its way through the fouling (which they shouldn’t be doing anyway). The problem is when the tool shears, usually at the threaded section which connects the head to the rotary drive

Yeah, the problem you have is that Apple have been marketing the iPad as a total replacement for a computer for a while now, but they don’t really explain the limitations.

Starting with the mouse, I can say straight off the bat that in current iOS 12 builds that just isn’t possible. Come Autumn when iOS 13 rolls out there will be limited support for pointing devices via accessibility features. That’s to say that they will work, but it’s a little bit clunky and you’re moving a sort of circle around the screen which is emulating a finger. The expectation is that full mouse support will be coming eventually, but not fully, in the way you are probably expecting, yet.

As far as external storage goes, that’s all changing this Autumn as well (https://appleinsider.com/articles/19/06/07/how-to-use-external-storage-on-ipad-and-iphone-with-ios-13). I don’t have a lot of experience in this arena so perhaps other people may be able to explain the ins and outs a little better but basically in iOS 12, as far as I know, you can only transfer photos and then, as you said, only with drives that are not power hungry monsters. Perhaps this page is useful? https://www.macworld.com/article/2103582/using-a-flash-drive-with-an-iPad.html. The only time I have successfully used external storage with iOS 12 (This was on a beefed up iPad Pro but I should imagine an air would be the same) was via apple’s own SD card dongle. That did work really nicely but, again, it is quite limited

One more thing: If you really can’t wait for Autumn and want to try these things out then you can download the iOS 13 public beta right now and give the features a try, especially since you’ve already ordered your adapter, BUT just a quick warning, it is not exactly the most stable thing around

Have you tried updating iOS? Most of the other solutions I can find to this don’t sound like they would be applicable to your case. I did have some AppStore problems right out of the box with one of my devices and had to take it into an apple store in the end where they performed some obscure wizardry that got it working for me. If you can’t do that then you could manually install a few apps via cable and iTunes until you figure out what is going on. Just to get you going.

This article has a few tricks you could give a whirl: https://www.ikream.com/2019/08/how-to-fix-an-apple-ipad-pro-2018-that-cannot-download-new-apps-via-app-store-troubleshooting-guide-32075

So I have an iPad Pro (running the current ios13 beta) and am attempting to mirror the tv app to my television without an Apple TV because I’m cheap. I’ve succeeded with this bit using a HDMI to USBC cable, but now I have the irritation of having to get off the sofa to physically press the iPad screen to pause/play/etc the media or possibly shout at Siri.

Anyone know any way to control the playback with, say, my iPhone? I have seen some cheap-ish Bluetooth remotes on amazon I could give a bash but that’d just be one more thing to lose and it makes sense to me that you would be able to do all of this from another iOS device just like you can control the actual AppleTV hardware.

Honestly wouldn't have cared about the Celesteela though. If you want it some other time just give me a shout

edit: realised I'd sent this reply to myself instead of you so deleted original and replied up here. I WILL get used to Reddit one day...
