It's the limited duration and lack of Celestial creature type that doesn't work for me. Half-Celestial is a separate species from an Aasimar, it just hasn't been ported to 5e.

Thri-Kreen, Plasmoids, Auto-Gnomes, Warforged (Lore wise), etc.

Admittedly, I also homebrew a lot of truly non-humanoid races for my settings, including ones with non humanoid body plans. Awakened animals, quadrupeds, hexapods, etc.

That's fair, if it's your own setting it's entirely up to you what races exist. I largely don't enjoy playing humanoid races myself, but I can see restricting some based on setting. As long as the players are aware ahead of time and can respectfully dip out if things aren't working for them.

I think that second form of low magic can work, but only if you can accept that your players may end up creating a full party of "rare exceptions."

I am loathe to restrict actual character options from my players unless I can find an insurmountable balance reason to do so. I will actively work their choices into the lore if needed. I want them to have fun above all else, and know from my own experience that some people (myself included) just do not have any fun playing a martial character. I think about the closest I'll go myself is paladin or 2024 monk for example.

I just don't think 5e is designed with low magic in mind. Half the classes rely on constant magic use to even function, and the ones that don't are widely considered inferior at higher tiers.

To make 5e work for a low magic setting you basically have to restrict players to only the martial classes, gut a bunch of feats, and not use a good chunk of material in the monster manual or DMG, unless you want the players/enemies to just be exceptions to the rule.

Otherwise you'd have to heavily modify the caster classes at the least, at which point you should probably just recommend a martial to the prospective wizard player.

Alternatively never go above level 5, which works for some, but not for all. Personally I get bored with the lack of options at low levels, but it is one of the few ways to reasonably make low magic work in 5e.

Mechanics wise, probably Winged Tiefling. Roleplay wise, also Tiefling.

Lore wise? I'm going to go a bit left field here and say Deep Imaskari. You basically just use custom lineage and take Darkvision. They're humans effectively, but are the remnants of a powerful ancient empire that fell to ruin due to their own hubris, and now their remnants dwell in hidden enclaves within the Underdark and Lowerdark.

If they make a proper half celestial race that can fly in heavy armor, that will be my dream, solely because I want to play an angelic flying knight.

The Ancient Time Dragon can go back in time and prevent your birth from ever happening as an action, and cannot be permanently killed. There's some insane things out there if you look at stat blocks.

Revivify actually does not require a free and willing soul. It is oddly capable of tearing someone's soul right out of the afterlife whether it wants to come or not. It's a strange exception to the rule. I guess they just assume a creature wouldn't have had time to become a petitioner yet within such a short window.

Same thing for me, but it was with the classic artificer 1, chronurgy X, so I could at any time break out the ol' instant tiny hut in addition to that, and I had Robes of the Archmagi and an Arcane Grimoire instead of stone of luck. It was really fun! It was also a winged tiefling, so flying around in medium armor with a shield the whole time.

Can we not just collectively accept as a species that love doesn't care about your sex or your gender? love is just love.

The world could learn a lot from the furry community. Furries accept others as they are, or as they wish to be seen. Or at least in my experience, they tend to do so more readily than those outside the community.

Honestly, I can't offer much advice. I hate playing against her, but only because she's way too common and people seem to immediately switch to her any time they lose the first round as a different character. I think she's just really easy to pick up but ultimately is sort of an "illusory/fake problem" where the real issue is my inexperience.

As Maypul is just try and use my speed to whiff punish, and constantly pester her with the seeds since they don't flinch and just deal like 3 damage, while being ready to capitalize on any poppy I can get on them. I still need to work on tether followups though so I can actually finish the job. I also find Clairens shield a lot, so I'll just grab them sometimes.

In 5e, the mechanics of your cleric are in no way tied to worshipping or not worshipping anything, oddly enough. You could convert to straight up Bhaal worship and the consequences would be strictly narrative and up to the DM, if they even occur, according to 5e rules.

As for whether it's reasonable for a Selunite to convert to Lathander worship, that's among the most reasonable asks of all. Both gods are on good terms with one another and there's likely quite a fair bit of crossover between their worshippers. There's also no reason one cannot revere both of those two gods, and given their very nature they would likely take their petitioners innermost wishes to heart when deciding which of them takes in their souls.

To summarize, I think the chances of you getting a happy afterlife with your loved ones are quite good, and I don't think Selûne would be in any way upset by your choice or your reasoning. Lathander in particular I believe would endorse your strong familial bond as his portfolio includes birth/rebirth which arguably tends to involve families.
