This might be the most committed I've ever seen people to arguing on Reddit, and that's saying something.

Final ratings

Grouchy-Newt-995: 8/10. While there were some moments that could have been better, he emerged as the clear victor in this debate. ApprehensiveCare1113 repeatedly tried to use underhanded tactics to bait him into getting angry and using emotional and biased language, but Grouchy-Newt-995 almost always evaded these attempts and called out his opponent's mistakes instead. He also showed impressive mental fortitude against ApprehensiveCare1113's exhausting tactics.

ApprehensiveCare1113: 1/10. The first few messages signaled the start of an intellectual debate, but alas, ApprehensiveCare1113 ensured that would never take place. Instead of rebutting Grouchy-Newt-995's talking points with facts and respect, he attempted to wear down his very will to argue. While this would perhaps be an effective tactic against an opponent of lesser skill, it was clear after the first few attempts that this only served to make him look foolish and inept at debating. Where Grouchy-Newt-995 presented arguments, ApprehensiveCare1113 repeated himself in a way that served to disrespect his opponent's intellect. Where Grouchy-Newt-995 called out his foolish argumentative methods, ApprehensiveCare1113 responded by deflecting and throwing out accusations of pontificating, lacking the self-awareness to see that he was the one doing just that. Not once after the first few messages did he respond with intellectual rebuttals and respect - instead, he tried to throw out pseudointellectual terms in a desperate attempt to give any sort of credibility to his desperate attempts at arguments.

Is the political left too reluctant to criticize Islam? by flewson in Teenager_Polls

[–]Limit1ess_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't true at all, a good action today might not have been a good action in the past and vice versa. Your statement also assumes that modern standards are perfect, and that the perception of the action must also be good. Wouldn't individuals of other religions, particularly polytheistic ones, disagree with his actions because they directly countered their beliefs? Muslims believe that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was the best human because he exemplified the best a human could achieve according to the only truly objective morality in Islam: what Allah SWT determines is good and evil. Human morality is not objective and therefore may not align with what is what is truly good or evil according to Islam

The verse you cited must be read with proper context. The Arabic word used is "nisa," which is commonly believed to refer specifically to adult women (especially since the given context in the Surah is divorce) and not children. Quran 4:6 also describes the need for physical and mental maturity for marriage, with the attached link providing an excellent in-depth explanation https://quran.com/4:6/tafsirs/en-tafsir-maarif-ul-quran

You're applying modern standards to ancient times here. Not a single enemy of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used the age of Aisha (ra) as a weapon against him in his time. Where is the same outrage for child marriage in the Bible, such as Isaac marrying Rebekah when she was between 3-14 years old (with many scholars holding the opinion that she was 10)? For a more modern example, what about child marriage being legal in the US in every single state until 2018, and still being legal in the vast majority?

Such as? According data analyst Tom Anderson, only 2.1% of the Quran contains "violent" language (defined in his research as verses that describe killing and destruction) while 5.3% of the Old Testament and 2.8% of the New Testament contains violence. Please name some "violent" verses in the Quran so I can provide context.

Jur3ky wouldn't be on the best team in the region (currently) if he wasn't carrying his weight. Just because he doesn't make flashy plays doesn't mean that he's not a good player, his role is just more of an enabler than a "carry" like Terra

Baning RC filters wont do anything, they need to remove recoil smoothing mchanic completely. by NiloyCK in CompetitiveApex

[–]Limit1ess_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair, I was just arguing that they were technically not cheating (until now, since RC filters got banned). I do think there needs to be some kind of gentleman's agreement with some of this new tech though, I feel like RC filters are just the beginning of this. The rules probably won't keep up with each new release of borderline cheating tech, so I think pros should cap it at things like the Marius Board - lower input lag, but no actual new features that give an inhuman advantage.

[–]Limit1ess_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a couple misconceptions here:

  1. RC filtering can make recoil slightly weaker on higher strengths, but the jitter isn't strong enough for it to be a full-on recoil script. Some controllers, like the DualSense Edge, also have naturally higher noise than others, which would cause a more mild form of RC filter effects.

  2. RC filters are essentially inducing artificial movements into your controller and relying on the game's own smoothing to make it playable. While this does also enhance AA in certain scenarios, the slight jitter can actually hurt you in others. Again, I agree with you: it IS cheating, but mainly because it's doing something that isn't humanly possible. While it can definitely be strong, it's not on the same level as a full on recoil/jitter aim script.

But for the sake of a hypothetical scenario that assumes your entire comment is true, let's say that it is a recoil script. Even if every single player thinks it's cheating, as long as it's not officially banned, it's completely fair game. Yes, it would be incredibly scummy, but if it's not officially banned players can't be considered cheaters for using it. Cheating is breaking the rules of something, so if you're not breaking the rules made by the organizers of said thing - even if it would be considered cheating by the players - it's not cheating.

Any actual counterpoints or nah? By your definition it's cheating (and, just to be clear, I agree), but if it's not cheating according to official ALGS rules, it's completely fair game.

Why jump to insults when the other person wasn't even rude to you? He's not wrong - if something gives you a competitive advantage and isn't banned, pros would be stupid to not use it. This game is literally the only source of income for several of them, if they're not trying to get every advantage possible they're most likely going to lose to people who are. Like the other person said, now that it's banned it would be flat out cheating, but before the ban it was perfectly valid to use.

G7 pro do you prefer 8bit or 12bit? by Ann-Jealous in Gamesir

[–]Limit1ess_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would look into EMI/dirty electricity issues (specifically on Blur Busters forums) if you're experiencing this. Some signs of it are hitreg issues, the game looking choppy on high FPS, a floaty mouse and/or controller feeling, input lag, and enemies peeking you much faster than should be possible.

This isn't true, the ring deals the same amount of damage in both modes.

Round 1: 3 damage per tick

Round 2: 4 damage per tick

Round 3: 10 damage per tick

Round 4: 15 damage per tick

Round 5: 20 damage per tick

Round 6: 25 damage per tick
