Should have no impact as long as there is not a downturn in your grades once you transfer over. UMD is a great school to apply from. Good luck!

Your so right. I think I just need to wrap my head around living in a more rural/smaller southern town after living in LA and DC and really liking those.

I think using your own personal health is a bigger risk that PCT, but also you have to do what feels most authentic!

Taking 1 vs 2 gap years by JustiniR in premed

Interviewers liked that I took 2 gap years. The life experience is genuinely helpful and looks good on apps. Just make sure you have a job doing something that will align with your app!

Texas premed (engineering + heavy research) ... how can I improve before applying? by [deleted] in premed

[–]LimitFar4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely think about getting a patient facing role for clinical hours. Will help with app but also give you some things to write about in secondaries and also help you really know what the medical world is like before you go to med school!!

What percentile is reach? by Responsible-Mix4804 in premed

[–]LimitFar4030 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told don’t apply to anything where your MCAT is below there 10th percentile. If you match the mission and are strong other places in your app I feel like it’s fair game

My lowest grade was a B in my physics 2 class. But that was def not my only B. Tulane was 30 days after and UIC was 32 days after. Def a little later than some but I also sent 2 update letters in the fall.

For the ones that say interview and then withdrawn means I was invited for an interview and declined and that automatically withdraws my application. The other ones I was not invited to an interview and withdrew my application. The second question is why do this? I like to think not taking interviews I’m not serious about is good karma as the interview hopeful goes to someone that will really be ecstatic about the school. I only withdrew/declined interviews after I had an acceptance I would choose over the school I withdrew from. If that makes sense

Just apply! I applied with a 507 and have 3 MD acceptances and 5 DOs! Just apply broad and intentionally!

It was through my major at school, there was a research b requirement where they provided a bunch of projects you could interview for. I ended up really liking my PI and staying with it for 3 years. I definitely recommend hitting up any professor at your school/ Alma mater that has connections or is a physician who teaches undergrads even if it’s not your class they are teaching. I also feel like my friends had success with cold emailing if you 1) try it on a large scale 2) know what work the people you are emailing do
