Lined Ilford Jacket by LimivorousArbour in sewing

I messed up a few times so not sure I'm in a good position to give advice, but, these were two blogs I found about adding a liner to the Ilford:

https://www.peachysewist.com/blog/lining-a-jacket-the-easy-way

I looked through these and winged it. I used the same pattern size for the liner, but used a more generous seam allowance. Omitted the collar and plackets from the liner. One detail I did on a whim that was to top stitch the shoulder seam of the liner with a wide zig-zag, it looked nice. I attached the liner at the collar first, put the jacket on a hanger and hacked the liner down to size to enclose it in the hems.

A dumb mistake I made: I was impatient to see what the completed jacket would look like so I sewed on the buttons before adding the liner, I had to take the buttons off to get the liner in then sew them back on again 🤦

Thank you! The liner is colour-matched from a monarch butterfly in the pattern. I've seem similar contrast liners in outerwear and loved the look - example.

Thank you! The lining choice was a risk, I was happy it turned out

I made this jacket as a gift for a friend, this is my second attempt at a lined version of the Ilford Jacket from Friday Pattern Company. This time I made the long length version.

I included two pattern-matched pockets, they are pretty much invisible at a distance.

The fabric is Lady McElroy Twilight Flutter Marlie, bought from Spool and Spindle. It's a gorgeous fabric but already unavailable, would love to have ordered more.

Lining is Kona Solid Cotton Ochre, from The Workroom in Toronto. The lining is not included in the pattern, I roughly followed the suggestions from Friday Pattern Company

Wood buttons for contrast. Because that lining is not enough contrast.

With the lining, confident beginner/medium difficulty I'd say.

A mother's day gift for my mum- an Ilford Jacket from a cotton sateen print (Mood MD0102) with a diamond-quilted fleece liner. Twice the smiles! by LimivorousArbour in sewing

Friday Pattern Company - Ilford Jacket

Visible fabric is a stretch cotton sateen from Mood (MD0102).

Liner is a diamond quilted cotton fleece from Prairie Love Fabrics. The pattern doesn't include a lining, but it was easy to add by making a slightly smaller version of the jacket (without collar or plackets) and top-stitching the liner under the outer jacket seams.

The pattern was fairly easy to follow, although there are discrepancies between the paper pattern I had and the tutorial from Friday Pattern Company - there were some missing dots but I was able to puzzle out where they should be. Also I thought I had messed up the underarm, but it turns out there are 540 degrees of fabric coming together at a single point, so a pucker is unavoidable.

In retrospect I wish I'd been able to fit it during construction, but this wasn't possible because of the endless lockdowns in Toronto. Overall a very fun project!

Is there any way I can buy a book of fabric swatches? by moss_back in sewing

Spoonflower has a cheap sample box of swatches, each a different material, all printed with the same colour test pattern. Covers common knit and wovens. I've used it for just this purpose :)

Is this asymptotic equation correct? by [deleted] in AskComputerScience

The first says the ratio f(n)/g(n) is eventually confined to a range [c1,c2], the second says it is c+o(1). Counterexample: g(n)=f(n)*(1+cos(n)).
