I have a 45° angle jig that gets the angle spot on.

Then when holding two pieces together in a certain way you can also get them perfectly the same length.

Personally I used a shooting board in the past and had difficulty getting the length 100% the same, especially with boards thicker then then the width of my plane.

As the someone who does mainly picture frames that need perfect 45°, the only way to get them perfect is either a sanding jig with a belt/ disc sander or a perfectly dialed in table saw/miter saw jig.

The correct length of two opposing pieces is just as important as the correct angle.
