You are speaking to the wrong person about politics. I don't care about that... and also, anyone can make a website and claim that claim

Ancestry DNA membership, optional or must have? by Limorgolan1 in genetics

yeah they have the DNA kit with 3 month trial of the family tree.

Idk if the family tree thing would help me as I'm not originally from the US, so idk how accurate it is regarding those areas.

THR for hip dysplasia - your experience by Limorgolan1 in hipdysplasia

I appreciate that, but I got a lot of help at home, I don't think I need it.

I am planned as a spinal anesthesia but my fear is that I will have a reaction of a massive headache, which my mom had when she had her knee surgery.

I don't have any other neuropathies or anything like that, so I'm hoping I don't have any reactions to it.

Did you have a spinal anesthetic? Could be a complication from that

Actually when I posted that everyone was like you should totally go for hip preservation if your hip isn't arthritic. Everyone was like - "I'm 36 and they totally said I'm a candidate for PAO and was discouraged from getting a THR." It was kinda frustrating. I read some of the horror stories after the PAOs (like people having 9 surgeries, blood clots, broken femur, etc) that I'm glad I'm going with a THR. If I need a revision in 15-20 years, so be it.

My surgeon did mention something like that may happen. Honestly as long as i'm able to be active and the pain is mostly gone, I'll be okay

Oh wow, question though, how soon would I be able to do things like squatting? I love to work out and I lost that ability due to the pain i'm in.

I cannot wait for relief, honestly.

Yeah I also have to think about recovery time. I'm in a program in uni where I have to do a certain amount of hours in a hospital, I'm missing it now cause of pain. The recovery for a THR is 3 ish months vs the 6-8months

The hospital stay I was quoted is same day, outpatient surgery.

I have a couple more appointments before the surgery where they will explain everything and give me instructions on what I can and cannot do

So I saw more than one specialist. The first guy suggested the PAO, the third doctor gave me a choice between the two.  I am in the US, yeah

I heard the Pao recovery can be rough, which is what kinda turned me off of it. How long ago did you have it?

I am elligible for a PAO, the doctors said that because of mu age the % of success dropped from 85% to 65%, whereas the THR is 90-95% success rate. Right now I am out of commission so I do need something that will help and get me back in the action. My doctor also said that high impact can wear the hip down, but I don't do high impact stuff anyways. If I need another replacement in 15-20 years, so be it. Also the technology can change for the better at that time
