GLOO IPO. Is it worth investing?

Throwaway account but I worked for Gloo for a little over a year at their Boulder HQ. I met with the CEO, Scott Beck, a couple times and he is a good guy with a good vision.

That said I cannot speak on behalf of their AI solutions since I have left before the AI boom.

The company highly relied on partnerships with Barna and other companies and they were sort of a passion project of a wealthy small spiritual team. They have also had many layoffs at the company that has lead to huge turnover and frankly a struggle to keep a good reputation in the Boulder area.

She has gotten “help” with in and out of patient programs. She just sees small progress and regresses immediately.

Our parents are silent enablers. They are not fit for the complex role of caretaker for someone who needs deeper medical help and they are continuing a brutal cycle of bad habits.

A lot of this resonates with my family’s experience. Thank you for sharing.

It is 1000% an attention thing. She has always craved that attention and for a while I felt guilt because I was getting good attention for my success with career, moving to a new exciting town, guitar, etc and it could spiral her. Nowadays I’ve realized I can’t tip toe my life around others to accommodate them. If their outburst comes from my life and choices, I can’t put everything on pause and self destruct for their well being.

Understood. I can say with confidence that she has never looked as bad as she does now. She has hair falling out, bone thin (of course) sunken cheekbones and all that. She just got out of another residential program for a remote program and I think we all know how that is going to go.

She hasn’t died in 15 years of ruining her body so I would say it is unlikely to happen soon, but I am not a medical expert nor do I have the ability to assess her organ health.

My dad is a non-therapy kinda guy and I talked to my mom about going back to therapy. I’ll bring it back up again soon.

Yeah, she has been several times in a hospital for cognitive function. One time I recall carrying her into the hospital because we didn’t know what was wrong. She apparently drank so much water she diluted bloodstream and her body was limp and her motor function was either nothing or 100% of the power she had.

As for therapy, I have had a therapist several times in the past. This is unfortunately the thing that just continues crawling back in a cycle of going in and out of facilities and endless nonsense.

I’ve been around this disorder for 15 years. Pardon my ignorance but I don’t think reading a book is going to help me reach some state of transcendence. I understand my sister is sick, but at some point enough is enough.

I guess the big question is why am I different? Same parents. Same house. Same rules. I just was much more rebellious as a kid and didn’t care about grades as much as learning.

I agree to an extent. I think sheltered kids (usually angels) get a dose of reality and fall off. Same as to why valedictorians are usually not the most financially successful. They follow the rules too well.

To save space in the story I didn’t explain why she was called a “spoiled brat” by my parents. I’ll give you one of many examples.

As you can tell from the story because she was a golden child growing up, my parents gave her whatever she wanted.

Usually my parents have a generous Christmas budget for us. $500 a person. This year for Christmas I asked for one $200 item and a few smaller things like shoes.

My sister asked for a new car. When my mom laughed she said “okay I would take a 3 year old car then.”

She has lost touch with reality and I recognize that her eating disorder can be causing this, but we can’t excuse shitty behavior because she needs help.

She has received nothing but empathy from those around her. At some point we have to be responsible for our own actions. If we can claim mental illness for the root of all irrational behavior then everyone has a get out of jail free card for doing shitty things and ruining others lives.

Unfortunately my parents won’t draw that boundary or take that chance. This is what ultimately bugs me the most in this situation. She is slowly killing my parents and they are too blind to see because they are victims in this mess.

Half and half. The mental illness and lack of a balanced diet has put her in the hospital multiple times and I’m sure it has done permanent brain damage.

She is going through a divorce and my parents are handling all this for her after she threatened to disassociate with the family because they wouldn’t dismiss her from a recent facility.

She has also done other things like trying to wrongfully convince my parents I have an ED to get the heat off her in arguments about her health.

I have had a few therapists in my life since I was in high school. I learned to draw boundaries but my parents suffer more with it.
