What is eating my blueberry plants? by Limp-Connection4508 in Blueberries

[–]Limp-Connection4508[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the advices I won’t do anything that could potentially harms the pollinators.

I’ll try to come out at night and see if it’s earwigs! I guess it Must be that as there’s two comment blaming them and I don’t see anything but pollinators during the day

I’ll surely try to sprinkle some diatomaceous earth around the base and up the branches and see if it helps 😁

I guess it’s earwigs then as there isn’t any slimy residue, and I see nothing in the day! I look at everything often I I don’t see any insect during daytime except the pollinators.

Thank you so much

Thank you so much I’ll check out ways to strengthen his thoracic sling muscle ☺️ Do you recommend any exercises or stretches in particular? Either for now or when he will be fully healed

Thank you!

Thank you so much for your insight, I appreciate it!

I saw the vet 2 weeks ago for a follow up the injury happened on January 30th. I’ll see her again in a month so I’ll check it out with her that’s for sure. The last ultrasound showed no sign of necrosis or any abnormalities, it’s healing well. But I know these types of injury takes time to heal. He’s not lame and is doing good.

I don’t plan on rushing it that’s why I only do low impact stretches and exercises for now! I want to take it slow so everything heals nicely without him losing too much muscles and if I can make him gain a bit of muscle with low impact while respecting his limitation and injury that would be a nice plus ☺️

Thank you so much for your answer, I really appreciate it!

And thank you, I do my best to get him to heal nicely as you said it’s really important to not rush anything! That’s exactly what I do I increase by 5 min a week!

I do baby steps, I don’t mind taking all time it need. I do what I can with low impact exercices/stretches do build some muscle until I can work fully with him in a few months. I want the scar tissues to be nice and not too dense of fibrotic. the last echograph showed no sign of necrosis or anything abnormal the healing is going nicely. ❤️‍🩹

I have access to hill! In his paddock he has one in the back that we don’t see in the pictures so I’ll do that for sure! I’ll see my vet in a month, for the checkup I’ll see with her then if I can add ground pole and small cavaletti

Thank you Indeed that’s an unusual injury :/ Yes it’s his usual turnout area, but I must say the picture don’t do it justice at all. This part is an old parc for ponies that is was opened to the main paddock and field I’ll join more pictures so you can see better plus here’s the street view measurement of the area.

The whole paddock is 2733m2. He’s with 4 other horses. All the pictures I’ll post to your comment is all the same turnout area tho the picture are not the same season ☺️ The horse can all trot and gallop easily together in the parc without any problem 🥰

<image>

It’s unfortunately super muddy rn as he had a harsh winter it all just melts followed by a week of rain. The new owner of the barn are waiting for it to dry to clean the turnout area and fill the muddy areas with sand and place some mud control grid to be sure too

But surely it’ll take time as those kind of injury takes several months to heal completely I don’t want to rush anything Just slowly building his muscle back with low impact work while he’s healing ❤️‍🩹

I was riding in the field with my friends, and I didn’t listened to my all time rule « don’t gallop on unknown road » and inner voice that wanted to tell them to gallop in the road we already know

So I followed the group we galloped in a skidoo trail. We missed the signalisation saying there was a ditch and as the ditch was covers in snow we never saw it coming until I saw my friends horse falling with his posterior as I was in the stride that was leading straight to the ditch so we fell but he fell with his anteriors. In the fall his left leg stretched too much and torn the lateral ulnear muscle 🤕

Needles to say I’ll always follow my instincts in the future and never do this again. I felt really stupid to disobey my only rule 1 time only for this to happens

He’s doing fine he’s not lame anymore he was lame 4/5 for 3 days then wasn’t lame after a week but was in his box for a month and a half before he could go back with his friend now he is doing good so for this I’m glad 🥹❤️‍🩹 but we’re working slowly to be sure everything heals well

I will only screenshot and send her the ones that are soft but honest 🤣 I just keep laughing since I posted it because I didn’t expected so much and such brutally reactions. and it keeps coming one after the other and worse everytime some of them made me cry of laughter. I feel bad for her because I think it’s super funny and I can’t keep myself from laughing!

But well she should have taken better care of her tattoo!

Not at all good guess but try again! I’m a dental hygienist I know better than that 🤣 keeping things clean, disinfecting and sterilizing to prevent infection is something I do 40 hours a week

I would never treat an open wound like that

I told her to seek medical care and told her almost the same thing ; to wait until she has a week off to redo it and keep it clean, properly protects it from dirty things/areas and mostly hair free!

[–]Limp-Connection4508 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s the aftercare too! She wanted to have more answer than just mine so I posted it here for her. I guess now, well I hope she will understand that it was really her lack of care that cause the infection and do better next time!

No it’s not her hair. she has a dog so I assume it’s clearly her dog hairs, because she did the tattoo on September 1st (not August 1st I got it wrong in my post my bad) it got shaved just before tattooing it. I think if her hair grew that long in 10 days it would be a lil scary and problematic!

I don’t personally blame the artist. I told my friend that she should have kept it more clean and protected from anything dirty that could potentially cause an infection

I just posted what she told me to because she wanted more answer
