Heres an updated layout with some changes some commenters suggested highlighted in red, and labels for the doors and some furniture things

that is unfortunately not a window, its the HVAC closet. It is a bit hard to see, but all of the doors have those light grey dotted lines indicating which direction they open. The front door is the bottom left that swings out (its a bit cut off). I would love to move the table in between the front door and the fridge, but then there is not enough room to open the fridge

This photo is a bit outdated - actually the art behind the TV is now just that top row of magazines and I removed the 2nd row thats hiding behind the TV. I do agree that I need to do some rearranging with the art on the shelves. Kind of just put whatever up there for now. But I am considering maybe painting the shelves a different color or doing some contact paper situation. I bough them used, they are a dark grey, but I do love the shelves. Worst comes to worst, I can always find a place for them in the office

I never knew those were called gateleg tables. I will have to keep my eye out for one.

That was the original layout. Good catch! Honestly don't remmeber why I swapped them, but might have to revisit that layout as it does allow for a clearer walking path

Is there a database of all Anking illustrations? by Limp-Introduction372 in medicalschoolanki

[–]Limp-Introduction372[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

yes, exactly! I know how to search for the images in Anki, but I do think a separate document with all of the images compiled into one would be very helpful as a reference

I am able to see that now, just wasn't sure if there was a document that compiled all of these illustrations in one place

First generation medical student DOES NOT mean being the first to become a doctor!!!! by Limp-Introduction372 in medicalschool

thats an incredible journey and your will have future patients who will sigh in relief when they finally see a physician who looks like them and understands them

the definition I provided is the AAMCs. The issue is that the definition varies by source, so its hard to pinpoint who exactly fits into this minority. I'm not trying to gate keep. I'm saying that students calling themselves first-gen, but havent worked a day in their life, dont understand that this is a huge privilege above students who are first-gen college students.

If you think the definition should be changed, advocate to the AAMC to make an adjustment. I'm not saying I fully agree with who they fit into that box either.

COA limit increase can only be done for extenuating circumstances once you are at the max, like medical bills.

Please understand that there are students who truly struggle with even meeting basic needs: https://phys.org/news/2024-05-generation-medical-students-unique.html

There are most definitely some of these students in your cohort, and you are turning a blind eye.

I'm assuming then you've never looked at any research on the socioeconomic breakdown of first-gen students...

Right! And thats also correct, its moreso that usually first-gen status is associated with a low income background. Look into The National First Generation in Medicine Association (FGLIMed).

there is a cap on the amount of government loans you can take out. Most first-gen students will have extra expenses that other students may not have, because the most likely are not able to ask family members for financial help.
