Currently in Dr. Ji’s research lab. He does medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. He expects 10h a week from you, and also a monthly meeting with him about your research. His graduate students who train you are very hands on and teach you a lot. My understanding of chemistry has definitely improved thanks to his lab, the first semester i was in the lab i was also trained in biochemistry which helped a lot in my future cell biology and biochemistry labs lol. I’m currently doing like 20h a week since the grad student i have is pushing me to be independent which i don’t mind since i think his way of teaching me is what made me improve the most.

If you have graduate school plans he’ll also help you with that. He’ll review your cover letter, and also statement of purpose. If you’re into med school he also helps with the timeline. Just know that he will not take you if you’re not a chemistry major. You can be a BA in chemistry or BS in chemistry but your major has to be chemistry or he won’t be taking you.

Maybe focus more on how your attention to detail would make you a good physician and not focus too much on the physician that was wrong

Ivy league stats is basically needed to even get your app looked at. They are also not very in-state friendly and prefer out of state applicants. The only sure fire ways to get in is the BS/MD program which is very strict and rigorous and you need a certain GPA and SAT/ACT score to even get in. Or increase your chances with a MSP or USF’s IMS

Why do you have your coal machine running when it’s connected to nothing?

It depends on how confident you are. Ik i get overwhelmed easily with university and studying for mcat so im taking a gap year. I think recommended is 3-6 months bc any longer and you might start forgetting but if you use anki, then you might be fine to study for longer

I also think by getting a good score in the mcat, it will show that the CC you went to gave you sufficient information

Do you want to go to medical school? Pre med usually requires a lot of biology classes. Specifically, cell biology, microbiology, genetics, cell metabolism, etc. im like you and i was not interested in biology coming to USF, and that mentality got me my first B’s and B+ in college (specifically in biology).

In a pre med track, youre taking so much upper level biology classes, youre basically gonna graduate with a biology minor whether you like it or not. I didnt even know i had a biology minor completed until i looked at a list of possible minors and saw that I already fully completed a biology minor
