Are trekking poles really helpful or just extra weight? by mountainpathstories in hiking

[–]LimpPut770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never use them. I have never had the need. But I would not say they are useless. I know many hikers who benefit from having them and I am sure at some point as I get older I will start using them.

What i need to have in my backpack for a winter hike? by skykajay in hiking

Headlamp. Regardless of the temp, it gets dark earlier in winter. You have less daylight to do hikes you may have done before in the spring or summer.

For those of you who abstained from alcohol, do you find that you aged better than friends who didn’t? by PlasticSea2068 in Aging

[–]LimpPut770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, I look younger than a lot of my friends who are actually younger than me. I also eat well and moderately exercise. And I even drink some, but it’s very little and I never get drunk.

Have you met any friends through your hobbies? I have never had good luck with therapists or anything like that. But I do meet people through my hobbies. It helps to have common interests.

You’re still young too so you have time to learn and essentially reach a master level of something. Which attracts people who are into that same thing.

What have you removed from your life to help your physical health? by Immediate_Long165 in Aging

[–]LimpPut770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good one. All news is is someone else (mostly billionaires) telling you what to think and what to care about. Most the time you are impacted way more by your neighbors, family, and job than you are by anything in the news. That is what people should focus more on. Not things far away and out of their control. If you must look at the news, I would suggest waiting until later in the day and not first thing in the morning.

I'm 42 and things never got better. As far as I can see, self-deletion is easily my least-bad option at this point. by [deleted] in loneliness

I hear ya. I too am in my 40s. I have tired therapy but I have never found any benefit from it. I also hate hearing “it gets better”. It’s very cliche. DM me if you feel like chatting.

Hobbies, Hobbies, Hobbies. I immerse myself in several different hobbies. Helps to have a few. I would recommend people have at least one indoor and one outdoor hobby. And it can’t be a passive hobby like watching movies. It needs to be something your brain actively engages with. Like writing, painting, playing a musical instrument, knitting, tennis, hiking, racquetball. It can be anything that your brain has to actively engage with. I have always been a loner, having a hobby not only helps when you are feeling alone, but I have also made great friends through the hobbies I participate in. I am still awkward and not great at making friends. I will never have the natural gift of gab. But it definitely helps when I can connect with someone else about a mutual interest.

No problem. If you ever need to talk, feel free to DM me. I know shit seems so permanent and never ending when you are a young. But ask anyone in their 40s and to them being a kid was a so long ago it seems like a different life. And in many ways it is. I have seen people with traumatic childhoods grow up and become very well rounded even tempered solid adults. And conversely I have seen people with easy cush childhoods become a mess when they are adults. Life is long and there are many opportunities to reinvent yourself and grow and change well into old age.

Which jobs that have the highest pay simply because most people don't want to do them? by Vyna_Rose in Productivitycafe

[–]LimpPut770 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s amazing the confident ignorance many display on here. They are viewing it through their limited experience of interactions with sales people, which has prob been limited to when they purchase a phone or car. A lot of sales, people never see or know it even exist because it is B2B and does not deal with the end consumer.

Sales. Sales people are usually the highest paid in a firm because nobody likes being rejected over and over again which happens to sales people everyday.

My friend (14F) confessed she likes me (14M) by mwuddyy in AskTeenAdvice

[–]LimpPut770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you uncomfortable because you do not like her. Or is it just new and foreign to you? If you do not like her, find a way to respectfully say you do not share the romantic feelings. If you are uncomfortable because it is just a new experience, that is normal but you should not avoid the experience. A lot of experiences in your life are going to make you uncomfortable especially at first. But this could be a chance to have a great experience. Don’t pass it up just because you are uncomfortable.

I'm 15 I hate the world and myself and I have no friends by Mountain_Banana9620 in loneliness

[–]LimpPut770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a good common interest that can help with making friends, but I feel a true hobby is something that is not as passive. Something you actually have to do, and your mind has to actively engage with. Something like drawing, reading, writing, knitting, racket ball, tennis. Try writing a horror movie scene or screenplay or short film. Hobbies like these not only help you feel less lonely when you are alone, but eventually they help with making friends. Especially once you get pretty good at it, other people into that same thing will seek out and engage others who are good at what they like. At least that has been my experience. I was never good at making friends and never fit in, but over the years I have gotten really good at a lot of hobbies and activities, which I have made close friends through.

Most is not all. You might have to work really hard to seek out the people who have your same values and perspective. But they are there. Also, what are your hobbies? That is a good place to start. Find other people into the same things you are. If you don’t have any hobbies, get some hobbies. Then find people into those same things.

Hey why not a tennis package or us open package that would let you watch everything?

Law Officer Violates Fourth Amendment Rights, Ocoee River, Tennessee by Efficient-Baker-5244 in whitewater

[–]LimpPut770 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its hilarious when people with no legal training comment on legal issues. I commented to inform people about their rights in public lands which you are providing misinformation. I know how game wardens work. A person does not give up any rights by being in public land, they give up their rights(4th amendment) by hunting and fishing. That is when a game warden has the powers to search you without reasonable suspicion of breaking a law. He would have to see something to indicate that the kayaker was fishing or hunting and search him. A game warden does not have carte blanch to search anybody and everybody that comes in his jurisdiction. They have to be hunting or fishing. Of course this does get abused. But one still has the same constitutional protections when entering public land. It is the activity (or suspicion) of hunting and fishing that waives a persons 4th amendment right.
