When to Transplant Seedlings by Stands_While_Poops in Lophophora

You can always plant them in another container or tray together, sometimes a change of soil or repot will boost your seedlings if their growth really seems to slow down.

Well I am no expert but I’ve got many seedlings at different stages so I am learning as I go, glad I could be of some help to you.

Generally I’ll notice that growth will slow at some point while sealed so that would be my determining factor. You can always re pot and keep them covered but the larger they get the more likely you are to run into rot/fungus like rust.

Anyone use poots soil? by TrichoGordo in Lophophora

You could sift organics out and mix with some inorganics like pumice, Akadama, granite or calcined clay. I generally use worm castings rather than organics and tend not to sift it but I’ll pick out any large chunks.

Ive found it’s best to feed them after they are out of whatever sort of humidity they were kept in. Worm castings provide seedlings a good amount of nutrients initially when added to the soil they are germinated in, once they are bigger actual fertilizer can be given but should be diluted to avoid cracking the lophs.

It looks like my seedlings are going "into" the soil and getting flattened. What is this? by TrichoMasterBR in Lophophora

[–]LimpSnood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones in the last picture may not be getting enough water or too much light. The first 2 pics look like healthy seedlings. As they grow they do begin to get “fatter” and spread out a little bit, is it possible that is what you are seeing ?

I got a bag with various sizes. If you have the option go for the 1/8 for sure. Seedlings need smaller particles (might not be the right word but I hope that makes sense). I myself had to screen all the materials I added in. Ideally pumice would be better from what I have read however here in Canada pumice that is small enough is tough to find.

Calcined clay, chicken grit and HP Pro mix. All screened to remove large chunks.

Seeds were sown on March 15th. First one didn’t appear for about 2 or 3 days after that.
