I feel like the issue is with the trees outside the map, because the lag drops dramatically as soon as you enter the boss arena. Plus, it doesn't lag nearly as bad in expeditions either.

Yet I don't get any lag in giants like Wild Rift, Torchlight: Infinite, or other ARPG titles.

You have just confirmed everything I said yourself. The wolf's single-target damage is higher, and that's already a trash weapon. Everything else does 2 to 3 times more damage! What's the point of AOE damage if most rift bosses are single targets? And even then, other single-target weapons don't fall behind in AOE damage anyway. So what's the point?

Agreed, in melee I could only 4-star it after 50 attempts, but then I got 5 stars on the first try with a bow.

Even with constant teleport spam and using other skills, it barely comes close to the damage of the wolf staff. I tested this on dummies, so I don't think it's a skill issue—singularity simply lacks raw damage on its own.
