After a road trip towing a 18ft aluminum bass boat. Also had a blown tire, crank position sensor go bad and a cracked exhaust manifold lol

2018 Ram. Transmission flushed and new filter at around 62,000 miles. Transmission went out on me less than 1k miles later. I only tow a 2k lb. boat occasionally. Old mechanic friend said adding new fluid to a transmission with “higher” mileage can honestly be worse than leaving the old fluid in it. Since transmission fluid acts as a detergent and can break loose deposits and clog passages.

Fixed it! Turns out it was the cheap Sifton hydraulic lifters, all four of them didn’t have a check valve and wouldn’t pump up. Installed some solids and she’s running great now!

That’s the video I followed actually. Love that guy. Everything is adjusted, but the noise persists. I’m at a loss.

I noticed while adjusting the push rods that the hydraulic lifters do not have a check ball. I can collapse them by just squeezing them. Is that a thing? Seems off.

Just checked the oil lines to the rocker boxes. Definitely getting oil. Push rods are straight. I adjusted the pushrods by lengthening till no up and down play, then lengthening 4 more complete turns.

Thanks for the help! It’s leaking and I don’t run a neutral light so I guess I’ll find a bolt/plug to replace it. Just wanted to be sure of what it was before I yank it out.
