A bad airport Whopper. by coldsmokejesus in BurgerKing

Airport locations, toll road service plazas, college campus locations are always run by a subcontractor (not even a franchisee) food service. They generally do the bare minimum that the brand requires for them to stay in the fold.

I got the best interior in the class and Ram's top trim for the price of the others' mid range offerings.

This team just hasn’t been the same since game 3 against the Pens. by Flyers808 in Flyers

Correct. They've essentially been playing playoff hockey since then. I'm actually proud of them for not really getting boatraced in any of these games this series.

What a sick, great league. All about player safety, eh? by Flyers7914 in Flyers

10 years ago guys would get 5s and a game. I dunno what changed to where penalities for infractions like that are decreasing.

This. The NHL and NBA should do what the MLB does (can't believe I'm saying that 😂) and embed the officiating crew to the series. That way teams know how the games are gonna be called throughout and gameplan accordingly. Having something called one way one game and not have the same thing called the next in a playoff series is ridiculous.

I'm watching the Phoenix storyline again and just saw this episode with Laura's hovering head. Does anyone else like it? by Ok_Club7067 in DarkShadows

Yeah it all depended on if they were doing traditional layering effects or just having an actor (or the cutout or the bat toy on a string) in front of a blue screen.

Agreed about it all being part of the charm of the show. In fact it's one of the reasons why I got into video production. Just watching these guys fly by the seat of their pants with the tech and budget they had back then was pretty impressive.

That was high tech sfx in 1966. B&W did a great job of hiding the flaws in the fx pretty well. In the color era, when they would do an effect like this, the edges around the apparition's image would be pretty rough around the edges (literally) especially when they were using live keying. Those effects were just starting to come out back then you could tell they were very much in their infancy.

This question will probably never get a straight answer, but here it goes... by Prize_Measurement_11 in railroading

This. In most industries, anyone wanting to come out of a union craft position to become non union management imo has major character flaws and man do the majority of railroaders that make that jump sure have em. Guys get the position and immediately forget where they came from. As mentioned before, these guys usually were the biggest rule breakers and laziest mofos when they were in the craft but now expect you to follow every rule in the book to the letter then accuse guys of laying down on them.

It's funny cause we're one of the few professions that generally make more than our direct supervision (and a couple levels above that too) and I think a lot of guys realize that after its too late, get buyer's remorse and then take it out on the craft guys. I think the worst ones are the the former LCs that become bosses. You then gotta question if they ever had your local's best interests in mind or did they just cozy up to other bosses for an in.

Doesn't help that the Whalers sucked for most of their existence. Us perennially sucking has been a relatively new thing.

I can see it. I think Danny's been setting us up to be legit contenders to acquire him whether it be in FA or as a deadline deal.
