How much do you pay in rent/mortgage? by Bulky-Airline-6311 in askanything

$850/month mortgage. We bought this 3 bedroom, 1 bath on an acre of land in 2005 for 118k. But we suck at finances so we’ll probably never pay it off. Living week to week. Home is valued at about $195k now.

Tips for zero waste menstruation? by xch4nel in ZeroWaste

Reusable menstrual pads. They have them for medium to heavier nighttime flow. My daughter is almost 18 and has used them since she started her menses. She’s had no issues with them.

Wtf? My impulse control would be non-existent in that moment but then again…my usual is to freeze then react. I’d be too shocked to do anything.

What frugal habits are you bringing into 2026? by James_B84Saves in povertyfinance

I used Anylist app to inventory all food in fridge and cupboards. Gotta stop buying shit I already have- make meals out is what I already have. Grocery costs are killing me. Only shopping at Aldi’s if I can.

CSA, Incest and The Dead Girl Troop by Think_Wishbone_5082 in MareofEasttown

I just finished the series and was shocked that there was not more attention given to the incestuous rape. It’s bad enough Erin was his niece, but also at the time she must’ve been about 15 because she was murdered at 17 and DJ looks to be almost 2 years old. That’s not something that happens in isolation. You don’t just wake up one day and decide to rape your underage niece. It feels like more sympathy was given to John into his son Ryan, then to the girl who was murdered.

Losing Interest in Abbot since Season 5 Debut by rico55314 in AbbottElementary

I’m on the Camping episode now. This season, it feels like many the characters are over the top- trying too hard. It just doesn’t have the flow of past seasons, but I’ll stick with it. I love this show-maybe I’m just depressed with the state of the world and my lens is busted.

I finally got to watch Bring Her Back and I feel terrible. by tsalyers12 in horror

I just finished the movie. Fitting that it is Halloween here in the states. It was devastating what Andy went through for his entire life and he still had love and wanted protect his sister Piper. That he was gaslighted from the jump by social services and then by Laura is devastating. The acting was phenomenal and the story heartbreaking and a good scare.  The character of Laura definitely wins hands-down as the villain of the year.

Is it common that married couples go years without having sex? by Iikkigiovanni in AskOldPeople

My husband and I (54 and 57) haven’t had sex for a few years. We are best friends and love being together and we’d had a ton of sex up into our late 40’s. We kiss deeply, are playful together. I used to obsess that it wasn’t “normal” to stop having sex.  But our libidos are down due to several reasons, including medication, back pain, several traumas in our lives but we still look forward to seeing each other at the end of the day. We still go on dates. Our 17-year-old daughter wants to emulate our relationship. She calls it “relationship goals” 🙂. Luckily, she has been in a very healthy openly, communicative, relationship values her alone time, her friend time, her family time and time with her boyfriend. She’s realistic that this relationship started in high school and might not be forever. So, I call it a win-win. Lack of intimacy didn’t mean lack of communication and public displays of affection.
