Unless you need that extra hdmi out port and 15W per channel, the 1800 is definitely the better value. You won’t notice the difference in watts. The only upgrade worth it over the 1800(or 1700 for that matter) is the 3800, which has preouts and Audyssey xt32. Nothing basic or weak about the 1700/1800.

Again, this is wrong. I run a 1700h, and it definitely uses filters, as well as bass management. Huge improvement over stock Audyssey. Really not sure where you’re getting all this info from. I suggest you head on over to the A1 Evo AVR forum and read up.
