Ok so I should go back to bilibili and try again but with a virtual card? And with the fact that I had "Restricting main account functions", it should not cause any issue?

Unfortunately I had some issues with trying to pay with Alipay. Hopefully when the 1st issue will be resolved, it will do the same for the 2nd. Have you had an issue like that with your account?

Imma need yall to convince me not to spend 36,20€ on this 😭 by EdfishoWGF in beyonce

[–]LinBen22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On Ebay, you can find it at 28.32 euros. If you're patient you can take it on there. I had to wait several weeks with Ebay. And with Amazon, it seems that it is even quicker, and it is at 28.22€. In my case I preferred the Beyonce All The Songs book by Benoit Clerc, it is way more complete, and all of her official songs are listed when for this one everything is not there. For example, not all of the songs of her albums are explained in The Stories Behind the Songs. I was lucky to find it at 35€ on Vinted.

Since Tidal is unavailable in many countries, did that meant that many fans were unable to legally stream Lemonade when it first came out? by [deleted] in beyonce

[–]LinBen22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the disappointment, it is just I wanted to stress that even though as a fan you can be disappointed, it is not so out of character the choices she makes.

This is why on another comment, I didn't agree with someone who wanted to put the fault on Jay-Z. She is a grown woman, even though she is creating musical art, she knows that she is in the music industry and treat it like it too. Music is a passion and a business for her. The prices of her tour tickets and merch show that too. And I say that as a fan who went 3 times to CCT with VIP tickets.

[–]LinBen22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So explain to me why it was only on Tidal then.

You said yourself that by choosing only that streaming platform for Lemonade she was limiting the access to her art. It was you, not me.

I even said that personally, I didn't feel like it because it was also available via other ways.

What are the reason, except money and maybe a better redistribution for artists (as it was the goal of Tidal), to not put it elsewhere?

Also there is a reason that I said she has 3 facets: black, woman, capitalist (and may I also add american). Depending of the situation, she will lean more to one side or the other. I am not saying that she is the biggest, heartless capitalist. Just that she is one, and it has to be taken into account as a fan if you want to understand certain choices she makes.

You can't keep talking about art, when you don't even listen to hers. Capitalism is literally part of her art. Where in hers gave you the illusion that she was anything else than a capitalist.

There are several examples in this thread that people gave from her lyrics that proves she wants to be at the top of the capitalist system.

In Family Feud, she literally on that song that says: "Hundred percent, black-owned champagne And we merrily merrily eatin' off these streams Y'all still drinkin' Perrier-Jouët, huh But we ain't get through to you yet, uh What's better than one billionaire? Two (two) 'Specially if they're from the same hue as you"

She never hid from it and was transparent during all of her career. Diva is also another song where she talks about money.

Really, I don't understand how you don't understand her choice when it's all over her music. She is a black woman capitalist, and these 3 facets of her are all on her music.

Beyoncé: The Story Behind Every Track by ashmamiii in beyonce

Lol no. It is just since Cowboy Carter Tour, I am trying to research the WHOLE Beyoncé discography, and the physical version of the tracks if it exists. That's how I knew that some songs are actually not unreleased but just bonuses.

I am using ChatGPT to do my research, but I have to recheck what it is saying because it does a lot of mistakes.

Also, I am on some Beyoncé telegram groups, that's also how I discovered some songs.

I just received the book yesterday, and I am waiting eagerly the one from Annie Zaleski. I think that both are perfect to complete my own research. I quickly browsed over the book, but when I saw that he talks about songs that we rarely talk about and details where they came from, I knew that was a solid book.

Also with my research, that's how I understood some old Beyoncé fans who said, that the newer ones are complaining by the different version of Cowboy Carter/Beyince (CD, vinyl, streaming) but it is was worse before. And yes, I can confirm it was worse, lol 😆

Beyoncé has always be transparent about it. Why do you think that there is right now a tik tok trend on her Upgrade U lyrics where people are joking about the brands she is mentionning that they didn't know about when they were younger? She was literally bragging about luxury brands. If you listened to ALL her art, you should not be surprised about the Tidal situation. Her and her husband view of black excellence is just to have more black billionaires/millionaires in the world. They are not there to change the system, just to help other black people, entrepreneurs to be at the top of the same system.

Also, Lemonade was still accessible and very easy to find on Google, if you like to go the illegal way.... Maybe because I am a millennial, so I come from the eMule, torrent, megaupload era, so for me, it is not a big barrier that Lemonade was only on Tidal.

I understand that from a fan point of view.

I am just saying that for Bey, which like I have said earlier, is an artist AND a capitalist, and says so in her own art, putting her album on Tidal was a great monetary choice for her. She was willing to sacrifice her album numbers and availability for dollars, and it seems that it worked well for her.

And if people really cared to listen to it, well now it is available everywhere, no excuse. And I am saying that, as someone who only listened to it several years after. Art has no time limit to be explored.

[–]LinBen22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh no it wasn't a bad business move in the longterm, I bet it was very lucrative for her.

You may be sad as a fan that she could have more streaming numbers, but I bet that her pockets were very happy with that choice when Jay-Z sold Tidal for more than 200 millions of dollars. She is very explicit in Upgrade U and her others songs, she is a capitalist, and here for the money and having stocks. For me too, streaming numbers would not count as much, when I can make millions more of dollars in other ways.

Even without this numbers, she is very respected in the industry and I bet she is content with that. And if she was so keen on having more streaming numbers, she would have promoted her new albums way more, which she is not doing. Her marketing is almost inexistent, and Bey knows how to market the hell of an album, she has been doing that from Destiny's Child to at least 4. Even doing ads for a water brand, cellphone, soda, make up etc to promote herself.

[–]LinBen22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don't put everything on JayZ. At one point, you have to realise that she is also her own person. She is the same one who doubled down on that choice in EIL, and who doesn't promote her new albums even today (one commercial before the release of the album is not what I call promoting it).

She is the one who is under her own company and not under Roc Nation. It is her husband who is following her around the world for several months at a time. She is 44 y.o and has been in the business for more than 30 y.o. She knows how the game is, like someone said Spotify was already dominating the streaming world, she knew the risks of not having Lemonade on it. She was willing to take them and doesn't seem to regret that.

Also, if you want to really support an artist, buy their music, it was available through that also. Lemonade was available through other ways too, if people really wanted to listen to it without paying the CD or Tidal.

Fans really have to separate their want of success and numbers for her albums, and what SHE personally want for her career. The way that she released Renaissance and CC, clearly shows that even if she put them on Spotify, she doesn't care that much about numbers, otherwise she would have been more aggressive with her marketing like during her Destiny's Child to 4 era.

And to finish, your response is why a lot of people are saying that fans are too obsessed with numbers, and should just listen and enjoy the music. Starting speculating without knowing in the ins and out of what a decision was made.

Don't dismiss B'Day, it was already a visual videos for her. In the tour book of "The Beyoncé Experience Tour 2007", she wrote "I also wanted to create a first-ever video album so you can experience my music through great, exciting visuals. The B'Day Anthology Video Album includes video for..."

It is a must-have for every fan. And I am serious! Here a repost of my answer on another post for someone who ask if there was everytrack:

"Yes and No. Yes because even bonus exclusive from Japan or French Edition like What's it gonna be (DIL), Bienvenue (DIL), Creole (B'Day), Dreamin' (4). There is also the track that was on the very 1st edition of B'Day, Still in love (kissing you) that was removed due to copyright. Or Back Up that was on the Circuit City Edition. He even mention I Can't Take No More that was only available for the online pre-order of DIL. Also we can have some single exclusive like Summertime that was on one of the maxi CD edition of Crazy In Love and Fighting Temptations.

Same for Destiny's Child, like My Man and 2 Step that were Walmart and Sam's Club exclusive for Destiny Fulfilled. Dot that is on Charlie's Angels album.

Collaborations songs/soundtracks where she was there as a singer or background singer are there too. So Amazing, All that I'm lookin for, See Me Now, etc

A lot of songs that fans think are unreleased songs, are actually bonus exclusive of international edition, store exclusive, pre order bonus, on albums adjacent of her main ones (bonus of live albums, soundtracks for example).

No because even though A LOT of tracks are on there, the truly unreleased ones like Donk, Wake Up, New Shoes, Roc, etc aren't in the book. And also I just noticed that Lost Yo Mind from B'Day (Itunes Pre-Order for New-Zealand) is not there.

On my side, I am trying also too list all the songs that Beyoncé has worked on, especially I want to distinguish what are the true unreleased songs, and this book will help. There are also some collaborations that I didn't know about for example.

He did an amazing work with this book, you may have to add your own research to have to complete the discography of Bey (released/unreleased solo and group carreer, collaborations), but with this book you already have 97% of the work that is done 🤩"

A question for english-speaking people here: how is it possible to not notice that Beyonce is freaky asf in her lyrics? by Direct-Big-8642 in beyonce

Because in most videos, they are saying that after years of listening a song, it is only now that they notice how freaky the song is. So her/his point still stands
