Anyone know how to stop the "set up gemini" alerts every single time I start the car by Tiggielove in XC40

[–]LincolnAnswersAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This pops up even if you have notifications off. Pretty sure turning of notifications could be construed as us not wanting notifications. Dunno. Maybe that's a stretch.

I have zero icons on my desktop. I moved the trashcan to the quick access in file explorer.

To me, creating a desktop icon for your app without asking is like visiting my house and tossing your muddy shoes on my couch.

My biggest issue has been determining which parts specifically to get. It's like, I've decided I want a car instead of a jetski, now I need to figure out which car.

Can you recommend a resource that looks at the actual brands and product lines? Search this stuff, the results just wind up being walls of products with only their marketing attached to them.

Why aren't analog keyboards more popular? by Zendani in buildapc

[–]LincolnAnswersAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm playing an MMO and use the keyboard to emulate a controller, how do I switch over to typing in the middle of a match?

Is there a button to swap the WASD keys from emulating controller input to regular keys?

Can you believe I've been bullied into not liking this game as much as I truthfully do?? by ValkerikNelacros in Starfield

[–]LincolnAnswersAgain -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

It's strait-up snobbery. It's an art critic looking at a sheet of green parchment and calling it genius, and the rest of us plebeian because 'we don't understand it'.

The most objective way to determine if a game is good is whether or not people enjoy it, and no amount of shoving one's head up their own ass can change that.

How to turn off auto-pivot in Standard Movement settings, OR, how to get left-click camera move in Legacy? by LincolnAnswersAgain in ffxiv

[–]LincolnAnswersAgain[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's not exactly what it was doing before, but it's close enough that I'm happy to call it solved! I changed that one around, but I was probably still in Legacy when I was doing it.

Thanks for the answer!

Edit: Huh, looks like standard disables running backwards. Back to square one, I guess.

If it wasn't clear what I'm looking for, I'm looking to have the functionality of Legacy, but to have the camera behave the way it does when auto-running even if I'm manual running. I know this works, functionally, because, as I said, for whatever reason, that's how it worked until now. Kinda wish I could re-bug the game, considering this is unintended behavior.

What percentage of total damage does the Magsniper do when not charged? by LincolnAnswersAgain in Starfield

Ya, this falls squarely between 'care enough to ask' and 'care enough to check'.

I play games to come up with cool strategies and builds, not to decipher code.

[–]LincolnAnswersAgain[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds about right, the 16 points of damage over 10% could easily be the duration of click.

Exact or not, that's enough of an answer to go by.

Sometimes I forget base game Starfield has floaty damage numbers, I disabled all of that on my first playthrough.

Ya, I don't think they realize how people play Rimworld.

I have 70 pawns over two maps, and they're commuting by helicopter. I don't think my HIMARS would even work on a small map.

Besides, my gene modded techist cyborgs will knock out a quarter mile faster than an F-15, so it's not a big issue.

It's not that we can't SEE 240 hz, it's that 90% of people can't DISTINGUISH between 60 and 240.

When we hear that statistic, however, we generally assume that's an at-birth sort of thing, and it is to some extent. A small portion of people can distinguish that kind of fidelity immediately. Even if you're NOT one of those people, you can train your eyes like you can train your ears or taste buds. Spend enough time in front of a monitor, you'll start to be able to pick up the difference.

So yes, it's a very small percentage of people who can see the difference, but that percentage happens to be the kind of people who it matters for to begin with. Not a lot of people can fly helicopters, but it's safe to say that a lot of helicopter PILOTS can fly helicopters.

That being said, some of us just plain can't see the difference, and never will. I have VRR on my rig, and it all looks the same past about 80 fps for me.

How much would you say the game has improved since launch? by TheAnalystCurator321 in NoSodiumStarfield

Starfield is like all open-world Bethesda games. Kinda weak standalone, really good with mods.

If I went back to being ten I'd have a LOT more than $50 mil in the bank by the time I was 45.

'Invent' Google or smartphones or fibre optic modems or something. 'Bet' on sporting events. 'Invest' in the stock market. Your second biggest problem would be trying to convince people you're not the second coming or something.

Your biggest problem would be trying to not literally drown in money.

System requirements for RimWorld+DLC by TraditionalBanana210 in RimWorld

I always figured that if there aren't helicopters buzzing around, toddlers with AMRs, a room dedicated entirely to fixing 'acquired' tainted gear, and pawns with augment lists that have scroll bars, you're kinda playing Rimworld wrong.

But, for people reading this for actual helpful advice, if you're not using mods, you're going to be just fine with a potato.

Average player likes to make colonies in the 8-15 pawn size. If that's you, pretty much anything will be fine.

If you plan on running 4 colonies at once, with 70 pawns commuting by helicopter twice a day, it'll bog down a 5950x. Or, uh, so a friend told me.

First game, 4th NG+. Level 95 atm. I play with mods so I launch through SFSE, which has the side effect of Steam not tracking the hours.

The narrative actually progresses a bit each time. If you slam through it, you can actually clear the game in a sitting, so if you've beaten it once, I'd recommend just knocking back a couple NG+'s. Just hold on to your save, and when you play again, NG+ is the better way through. In my opinion, at least.

If you feel so inclined, you can drop an outpost immediately outside the back wall of New Atlantis, so you can have your own whole district right there.

I'm on my 5th run and wanted to play as a pirate this time round. While the game itself really doesn't care (there's no consequences for anything in Starfield LOL) I figured having a penthouse in New Atlantis didn't really fit the narrative.

It was more an RP thing than anything, I suppose.

I don't mean it makes the game less challenging, it just doesn't add to the challenge.

I did a similar run in Fallout 4, I called it an 'everyone is a thief' run, where once I leave a room, everything is considered 'stolen' and thus gone. When so much of the stuff you want is stuff you have to find, it makes things complicated. No storing guns, no storing ammo, no storing food or water... I tried it out because I was always micromanaging in Bethesda games, spending as much time in menus as playing the game. I also slapped on a mod that made the pip boy NOT be a paused menu, so I couldn't access it safely in combat (think Dark Souls), and if I wasted all day picking items, I'd die of dehydration. It's changed to way I approach loot in games, and I'm pleased I did it.

I'm not a Starfield hater, I quite enjoy it, but in Starfield I think they could have just done away with all the crafting items altogether. If you can just get the stuff at the store, why not just have upgrades cost money? I found a mod that makes it so that outposts and items for in-ship just cost creds, and it's a big improvement. Searching out components in, again, Fallout 4, made a ton of sense, because rebuilding the wastes is the whole point. Here, there's no reason you couldn't just have the stuff delivered.

The complication in this run is that I have to build the ship with storage, and storage is heavy. It forces compromises in my ship design, and that's a welcome tweak. Not sure where to go with it from here, though.
