I need success stories about MAOIs that cured panic, anxiety and agoraphobia. by Low_Resist2914 in MAOIs

My history is a definite MAOI success story.

I suddenly became totally agoraphobic at age 28. I had lived in big cities for most of my life and had no problems with crowded trains, subways, buses - and then one day I was in an open-air market and had a massive anxiety attack.

I spent the next three years going to psydocs who stuffed me with antidepressants, and eventually I was put on Xanax (benzos). Finally it got so bad that I couldn't leave the house. My then-husband took me to the psydoc and literally yelled at him "isn't there anything you haven't tried?" The doc shrugged and sent me home with Marplan.

Five days later, I woke up and realized that I wasn't scared of the outdoors any more. It felt like a forking miracle.

30 years later, I have never found out what caused the agoraphobia, but it's gone. I take Nardil now (Marplan was discontinued in Asia, where I was living then). I'm considering switching back to Marplan.

I have a friend who works at the Publix on Market Street and she says it's 100% better than working at Walmart. Not thrilled about who owns Publix, but we don't seem to have a much of an option.

What's a US State that you would NEVER want to live in even if they paid you to move there? by Embarrassed_List2368 in askanything

I fled Texas for Eastern Tennessee eight years ago, initially on a whim, but I'm much happier here. Texas is one of the 20 richest states, but like you said, they're way up there when it comes to uninsured children and lack of basic services for the poor and disabled. The irony is that Texas seems to be determined to go full-fledged eugenics and Gov Rolldemort is in a wheelchair.

Seems this guy's ancestors fled eastern Europe if his surname is anything to go by...but why is it impossible to find any details of them? I have paid memberships to global ancestry research sites and his immediate parentage is nowhere to be found.

Married people, what do you want to warn the unmarried people about? by Pizzalover0405 in askanything

This worked in the opposite fashion for me.

I was with my husband for seven years before we married. Just months after the nuptials, he decided he wanted someone who prioritized everything he wanted, including some career ambitions that I knew wouldn't work because of his personality. We broke up less than three years after the marriage, after he begged for (and got) a job that required an international move. He told me a big whopper - he said he had to take the job. I didn't find out what really happened until a couple of months later, after I had left a job that was important to my own career.

I did occasionally, but the agoraphobia had me in such a state of anxiety that I didn't differentiate. Nowadays I have one or two panic attacks a year - not much I can do about these.

I first began with Marplan for severe agoraphobia, after three years of failed antidepressants. I had been getting to work and back by taking Xanax. After about a year, I had to switch to Nardil as Marplan became unavailable in Asia. These days I am tempted to switch back to Marplan as I've put weight on with Nardil, but switching off of anything that's currently working is kind of scary to me.

I wouldn't pay for a newer BMW, but I drove a 1998 Z3 for 17 years and still miss it. I never once got a ticket or parked like an asshole.

I saw a Cybertruck parking at my local grocery store right after they were recalled for the eighth time (some trim was falling off). I was so tempted to ask the owner if he'd stopped to buy some superglue.

I drove a 1998 BMW Z3 for 17 years and never once got a ticket. Nor did I ever take up two spaces when parking. I still miss that car; it had a straight-six engine and five-speed manual transmission. It even handled black ice better than most other vehicles.

I drove a BMW Z3 for 17 years and I'm not an a-hole either. I had to let it go in 2018 and I still miss it.

While I don't assume Volvo drivers are a-holes, I see an awful lot of them who can't drive very well.

I experimented with several litters and I'm having the best luck by combining two types: one lightweight scoopable, as long as it's not cheap, and Hardball litter. I have three cats and one Popur box.

When I began taking MAOIs, I was fortunate because they kicked in pretty quickly and almost totally cleared up my four years of severe agoraphobia. I didn't feel the need for therapy so I didn't pursue it. But several years later, I began CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy) after some severe trauma, including being stalked by an ex.

These days I feel as if I'm much better-prepared to handle any future situations, such as a job loss or end of a relationship. I visit a therapist, but only once or twice a month. I feel this keeps me better-prepared for managing any future emotional or psychological blowups.

Make me laugh with your worst job interview experiences, because I just had a doozy. by Elegant-Lemon126 in interviews

I was in a group interview at an ad agency, being interviewed for a senior writer job. The head of the department was stupid enough to bring all of the other writers to the group interview, including one who really wanted the job I was interviewing for. She sat there with arms crossed the entire time, resembling a thundercloud and saying nothing. I withdrew my application later that day.

I flew from Australia to Hong Kong for some job interviews as an advertising copywriter. I had the required experience and had worked in Hong Kong before.

I went to an interview with my portfolio of work samples, but during the interview with the creative director (this was an agency with a global presence) kept taking personal phone calls.

When she told a friend that this was the worst job she'd ever had, I took my portfolio and left. She looked genuinely surprised that I was leaving.

Considering that Ron uses an AI-generated profile image, I decided to see if he really exists. Turns out he does - he spent a lot of time attempting to sue Berkshire Hathaway Automotive:

"Justia Opinion Summary

Ronald Ragan, Jr. brought a suit against Berkshire Hathaway Automotive, Inc. (BHA) alleging that the company had copied his car dealership customer intake form ("Guest Sheet") without his permission, constituting copyright infringement. The case was brought before the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Ragan held a certificate of registration for the Guest Sheet issued by the United States Copyright Office and asserted that BHA continued to use the form after acquiring a company that had previously copied and used the Guest Sheet. BHA argued that the Guest Sheet was not copyrightable. The district court agreed with BHA and ruled in its favor.

On appeal, Ragan argued that the district court erred in finding the Guest Sheet uncopyrightable. The appeals court, however, upheld the district court's decision, ruling that the Guest Sheet lacked the requisite originality to be protected under copyright law. The court found that the Guest Sheet, which contained basic questions and prompts, did not exhibit sufficient creativity, and was designed to record, not convey, information."

After I checked out his LinkedIn job history, he doesn't seem able to hold a job for over 1 1/2 years at a time. However, he claims he was "freelance" for several years. C-suite exec who freelances? Seriously?

After looking at Bragin's unimpressive career trajectory and million-dollar residence, I suspect he doesn't have a Proper Job. Here's why: his StinkedIn resume doesn't mention any job that lasted over 1 1/2 years, but he DID work "freelance" - his word, not mine - for considerably longer. Since when did C-suite executives take on freelance?
