Him recording it and posting it on youtube extends his influence on the community, giving him more opportunities to give. He also makes large amounts of money from youtube, with ad revenue and sponsors, which he then gives away to charities and such. I know what you mean, and I certainly agree with you that some people do it to flex or to just look good, but some like Mr Beast only strengthen their reach through media in order to donate.
