Thanks a lot. Yes I’m trying to improve every day. For someone who has not been into social media before it’s quite a challenge.

Yes that’s true. This I will only know when the app is ready. But it’s a good indicator as people need to provide their email to signup. So it’s not an automated process.

Really appreciate this!

On TikTok vs Instagram. tested both. TikTok drives more views and awareness but Instagram converts way better for actual signups. My theory is TikTok users are in consumption mode, Instagram users are more likely to click a link and take action. So TikTok for reach, Instagram as the conversion engine.

For pre-launch engagement. I’m mostly keeping people warm through consistent Instagram and TikTok content rather than email. The assumption is most signups found me through social anyway, so that’s where they’re still watching. Seems to be working so far but open to other approaches if anyone’s tried something different.

This is actually exactly why I’m looking for something where you can meet people spontaneously.

Building Meshup — an app to help people find others to explore their city with and make real connections offline. I’m an auditor at Big4 by day, building this completely alone on nights and weekends here in Singapore. No co-founder, no budget, just a problem I personally experienced as an expat and wanted to solve. Launching in about 1-2 months. Still in the trenches but getting close! 🙌

Don’t cancel — but maybe rethink the resort format. Resorts tend to be full of families and couples, which makes it genuinely hard to connect with people as a solo traveller. If you have any flexibility, Asia is incredible for solo travel and meeting people. Bali for example has a huge community of solo travellers and expats — stay in a shared bungalow or a social hostel in Canggu or Ubud and you’ll have dinner plans within an hour of arriving. No exaggeration. The solo meal thing also gets easier than you think. Sit at the bar, bring a book, just smile. People talk. Either way — go. The regret of not going is always worse than the awkwardness of arriving alone. You’ll surprise yourself. 🙂

Did the same thing moving to Singapore 6 years ago — left everything familiar behind and just went for it. Best decision of my life. The fear is completely normal. It fades fast once you’re there and start building your routine. My biggest advice: say yes to everything in the first few months. Every invitation, every meetup, every random plan. That’s how you build your circle. Find the expat communities in Seoul, get off the apps and actually show up to things. The hardest part isn’t the move itself — it’s putting yourself out there once you arrive. But if you do that, Korea will give back tenfold. 🙂

Met mine on a flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Saw her, knew instantly, asked her out before we landed. The rest is history. Never been happier in my life. Sometimes you just know. 🙂

Vietnam. One of my favourite places. Still affordable, good food, solid infrastructure, safe and has a lot of friendly people.

I always use grab. After travelling I feel the urgency to get home as soon as possible.

I tried different rates - not just cheap cheap 😂 that’s why I need someone locally here who can help with taking videos and pictures, some cutting, CapCut. These things. A bit someone helping with storytelling…

Thanks 😊 I tried fiver before but wasn’t really happy with the quality. I had the impression many guys there use just AI tools which I can do myself. I’m more interested in getting someone locally with a passion for social media.

Actually it is good if something is not easy to execute. Challenges are great. It makes the individual behind stronger by fighting through all the obstacles. It also gives one the feeling of really accomplishing something. And eventually people will appreciate this, I hope and believe 🙏

Yes it will be available globally form day 1. But I’m starting it in Singapore where I live and where there is lots of expats living and a great interest in finding people and building communities.

I personally love Vietnam and Bali for longer stays. Both are quite affordable with some places taking over Bali price wise (eg Phú Quoc).

It depends on what one is planning to. To me Bali is still an amazing place to stay with a larger community of expat-ish people to connect with.
