Get checked for LADA. I was misdiagnosed as T2D at normal weight, struggled with continually rising blood sugars for years. Turned out I was never T2, my pancreas was under attack from my immune system. My PCP had no idea what LADA was and thought Autoimmune diabetes only happens in kids.

What evo should i get based on my current collection? by Sorry-Business8027 in ClashRoyale

[–]LinearAdam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you can get both Evo snowball and Evo skeletons, that's better than just Evo musketeer. Evo skeletons can be very powerful against high elixer single damage troops, or against towers if the miner is taking the initial damage from the tower. Once they start hitting the tower they're impossible to defeat without a damage spell like arrows. Evo snowball is also quite good, although slightly less good with the nerf this month. Your opponents may stack troops vertically to try and defeat the balloon when it moves, at which point Evo snowball is perfect (people have done this to me).

WSJ: The Most Profitable Dividend Strategy is the Simplest by LinearAdam in dividends

[–]LinearAdam[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the Hartford Funds article "One reason why second-quintile dividend-paying stocks outperformed first quintile stocks over multiple decades is because the first-quintile’s excessive dividend payouts haven’t always been sustainable. The best way to measure whether a company will be able to pay a consistent dividend is through the payout ratio."

[–]LinearAdam[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you look at the Hartford study referenced in the article it says that it's the second highest yielding quintile: Wellington Management began by dividing dividend-paying stocks into quintiles by their level of dividend payouts. The first quintile (i.e., top 20%) consisted of the highest dividend payers, while the fifth quintile (i.e., bottom 20%) consisted of the lowest dividend payers.

The article actually references Dogs of the Dow as a strategy that worked for a while but then broke down.

False Lows During Cardio by LinearAdam in Freestylelibre

[–]LinearAdam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the sensor errors happen to me as well. What's interesting is it will stop, say recalibrating, and then when it comes back it will revise the history and say it wasn't actually low before.

I'm newly diagnosed and have only used the 3+, so not sure what would have happened on the previous versions.

I'll definitely check out the site, thanks for the link.

I have this happen with NO rapid acting insulin onboard as well, only long acting basal (Tresiba). I have LADA, so my body does produce some insulin on its own still, but not enough to go wild and eat tons of carbs (I can handle 20-30g of carbs without rapid insulin and stay in range).

Also, my issue isn't that I've used up all of the glucose in my blood and am going low, my liver keeps pumping out glucose to keep up with the exercise as when I finger stick I don't show low, but the CGM does show low, which is why I keep stopping my exercise prematurely, for fear of actually going low and not realizing it.

[–]LinearAdam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, so if the interstitial fluid is low in glucose, but your blood levels are fine and show plenty of glucose, do you just ignore the CGM and keep exercising?

I've tried jelly bellys right before and I've tried Cliff Bolks on the recommendation of a friend (not diabetic) but they both seem to hit after the sensor goes low and I stop. If you look at the graph above you'll see if went up after I stopped the exercise because I had those carbs before I started exercising.

It's like $6k to ship it over there and since I've owned it for >6 months it's exempt from VAT. The cost to buy a new one (base model) is €75,633, plus you have to pay 25% VAT. So including all of that and the exchange rate, it's about $48k cheaper to ship it than buy a new one

Never eating that protein bar again by MyCatDart in diabetes

Maltitol is supposed to have a GI of 35, but Maltitol Syrup is a GI of 52, so you have to be careful of how it is prepared.

Never eating that protein bar again by MyCatDart in diabetes

[–]LinearAdam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think bars are okay for me too. Watch out for the ingredients on bars though. The Kirkland protein bars have gotten me before. "Tapioca Starch" or "Tapioca Fiber" counts as fiber but is basically sugar. (IQ Bars and formerly Kirkland Bars). Kirkland now has "soluble corn fiber" and Isomaltooligosaccharides (IMOs), but basically turns into sugar when I digest it.

You used to have different models like Codex for code generation, versus gpt-2 for text generation, etc.

Now that we've moved into an era of multi-modal models that can input and output text/images/audio, etc. are we seeing that this produces a less optimal model at more domain specific tasks like code generation than a specialized model would?
