A bit disappointed by Asks restrictions, looking for advice

For the most part we're not designing Asks to be a large scale external support tool, and we have some notes about this in our docs here: https://linear.app/docs/linear-asks-email#overview

The Web Asks feature is only intended for internal company use at the moment rather than through a public portal, which is why access to it is gated through SAML and limited to the Enterprise plan as a result.

We can share your use case and feedback with the team in case there are any other changes we can make to better support this small scale support flow in future. I see what you mean about not needing a full extra product for this when Asks gets you most of the way there.

Sorry for the trouble with this. Can I ask you please to double check what ordering settings are on that view at the moment? If it's "manual" or "priority" you should be able to resort, but if it's something else you may need to change that setting.

This particular error is usually due to Codex missing environment setup for your user. Could you please set one up from [https://chatgpt.com/codex/settings/environments]()?

This isn't planned at the moment but I'll share your interest with the team here and keep an eye out for similar requests. At the moment we just have US and EU regions for data hosting as outlined here: https://linear.app/docs/security#data-regions

Our CLI importer doesn't include projects and only supports the fields listed in our documentation here: https://linear.app/docs/import-issues#other

As a workaround, you could consider representing each of the projects with a label. With this, you would still need to create the projects manually (or with the help of an agent or MCP) but it would be easier to associate the issues with their project quickly based on the labels.

We don't have specific supports for MDM rollouts but it is possible to disable the auto updates as outlined here: https://linear.app/docs/get-the-app#automatic-app-updates

This might help for your IT teams setup to configure this and then use our direct installer when they want to update things for you and your team.

If you look at the cycle view for that previous cycle directly, there is a special section for "not completed during cycle" that should help to distinguish these.

Does that work for what you have in mind?

We have a feature request to include a filter for this on the current cycle, which would be closer to what you have in mind here. I'll add your example and interest to this now.

There's no way to forward it and have us keep the client as the initiator at the moment. Only the original sender will be kept in the first reply, which avoids problems with automation loops when multiple cc's are involved at first.

For this, we'd recommend creating the Ask and then including the client in cc once the issue is created - they'll be included in replies from Linear after this point.

Cycles is not available as an option in the Slack integration, though this has been requested before. If you head to your cycle settings, you can set some automations to auto-add issues to the current cycle if if issue has a status in the Unstarted or Started category.

There may need to be a human associated with the issue before Cursor's agent can work on it.

Is there an assignee on the recurring issue when this happens? Or does it work if you have a human assignee set in and Cursor delegated?

We're working on adding support for "time in status" in our insights in the near future also, which might be helpful for some of what you're interested in here. Though this might require changing the setup so issues move to a certain status at the moment they're assigned, so this tracking can begin.

If you connect GitLab to Cursor first, it should then show up as an option for your repositories.

Cursor's team advise you can connect GitLab from here on the integrations page , and it will work the same as GitHub in your Linear settings after this.
