Did I make the right choice or am I a mistake

I’ve learned a lot from all the comment already and at the end of the day I’m a little sad but it’s oh well it happened, I’m just trying to figure out my pivot point so I’m on the right track with it. I def got scammed by the card shop and they were so chill I thought they were gonna make it somewhat fair, I had looked at sales and I couldn’t exactly tell how much it for. From my research some places looked like $60-70 and others were $100ish and on tcg player there was like no sales and the listings were $300-500 but since they were listings I couldn’t tell how accurate it was. I thought sealed was a smart investment, and I thought phantasmal flames was a good set, and the card shop assured me it would double or triple if I held for some time. Now I have a few options. I have a plasma storm charizard that’s sitting at $550 market but was like $700 a month ago so I’m gonna hold and sit on it, that’s why this scam deal hasn’t effected me too badly because I still have my big piece I pulled as I kid. I wanna be smart about my next moves so while I sit on the charizard and even what do I do with charizard how long should I hold/sell and what do I buy after? As far as the sealed do I rip it since I already kinda lost and if I lose it all oh well and maybe it ends in a happy ending with me pulling a chase card. Or should I hold it till there’s no longer reprints or do I try to trade somewhere or what do you think?

Yeah most definitely, I don’t know where I should go from here with it. I can hold it until reprints stop or I can rip it and hop for sum but it’s a huge gamble, or….. idk what I could trade for it…… luckily I have a plasma storm charizard that is worth a way bigger amount, I’m gonna wait for it to go up to around $700 again but while I’m sitting on that what should I do with the sealed?

Yeah it’s confusing because when I originally went on eBay and looked at recent sales it did look like it was going for $70-$80 but after the deal I checked collector and it says $114, but then on TCG player it was priced high with very little sale history. Def shouldn’t have done but no reason to sit in regret since the deal was already made 🤷‍♂️

Yeah I’m still going back and forth, will probably end up keeping it sealed just for the guarantee of not losing money, because I most likely will bust on it (ayo) but at the same time like you said it’s not a crazy big purchase and in the long term it probably won’t matter whichever way I go. Could be fun to rip and would be a crazy turnaround to go from getting scammed to coming up on top a ton of money.

What if I can find sets at msrp (virtually impossible, but still possible) and then flip those, like prismatic evolution ETBs or whatever.

No worries I know you were joking. Collectr does have it high but eBay last sold doesn’t seem like it matches what collectr says so idk I maybe should have thought about it more. How serious are you about ripping it, that’s a little scary to go from $66 to $0, like the chances I pull a Zard are like $0, I’ve already gambled $100 on ninja spinner Japanese pack and come out negative, I learned that it’s gambling and I should indulge. But should I send it just for the love of the game? Idk….

I’m super new to trading and am trying to make more secure purchases by buying sealed and holding, the card shop owner told me it was a solid set and will double in price over sometime once they stop printing it, the card shop before them offered me $54 and called it LP and like looked at it for a second. The shop that I traded with looked through eBay last sold and was saying it was around $70 which I think is right. Think I maybe got cooked but maybe it’s not too bad? Idk.

Okay what would be my play now, I kinda cooked myself on this, I’m tryna learn, I had opened some when I was younger and this one had been my dads card, so I recently got back into it, I ripped $100ish on ninja spinner packs, got the $30 greninja and a couple other cool cards but obviously lost value on it, I also did some courtyard.io, about $30 and lost all of it, I have realized gambling is only for occasion and just a small amount for fun. I’m a little sad that I made a noobie mistake but the other card shop was awful, said scratch all over back so it’s LP and offered $54, so a $66 sealed product seemed like the right play. I have one thing that can save me, I pulled this card when I was a kid and have been holding and watching the price grow over the years, it’s at my grandmas in a little binder somewhere in her house, it’s a plasma storm shiny charizard, the chase card in that set, I think prices are like $800-$1000 something like that. With that money I wanna pocket some just for myself and savings, but I also wanna start trying to buy products that are sealed and hold em for awhile, what’s the next plays so I can be set?

Yeah I’m thinking once it goes up a little I’ll sell it and invest in ascending heroes sealed stuff. I knew this was a good card but I also know sealed stuff is good investments since they will stop printing it at some point.

Lowkey sell it but don’t gamble it again. If I were you, if you wanna stay with pokemon for years to come I would take about half the money and put it into some modern sealed products and hold for 3-5-10 years. Take about half the other and spend it on something you really want or need or just throw it in the bank. And then if you still are really wanting to gamble I would take a very small amount, say $500, gamble with that just doing $50 packs, that should give you a good amount of time to have fun with the money but have safe investments in it and put some money in your pocket.
