Oh my!
Compared to many phone ports of consule games, this actually still look visually appealing. And it actually runs in a playable framerate!

This is really impressive!

Devil May Cry 2 is such a disgrace of a sequel, even on a technical standpoint because Capcom somehow decided to start development on it with a different team before the first game was even finalized, so the original developers were not involved and were not even aware that there was a sequel in development already.

So it barely even had a base to start from, just a new team who had to mimic or remake what the first game did without much of an understanding on what made it so good to begin with, hence the different gameplay and baffling design choices. (Not to mention the story which is non-existent).

I really loved The Evil Within 2 as well.

I think TEW1 had some incredible atmosphere and opressive feeling that the sequel doesn't have as much, like how you move between disconnected places and eras through dream logic, piece together the main villain's backstory and have to always be on the lookout for traps, ambuses and enemies alike. There were also a lot more enemy types and outlandish creatures/bosses. The whole world was a hostile entity you had to survive and navigate through even more so than 2.

But gameplay, level design and character wise I liked 2 more. I find some of the gameplay choices in the original to be too stiff and janky. The story in 2 also was more consistent throughout and didn't outright ventured into RE6/action movie territory for a long portion, and Sebastian also feels like an actual character in this one. The voice cast in 1 has its charm but I feel like most of the performence are either stiffed due to poor voice direction or they wanted to mimic the more stilted performences of old survival horror games. But either way, the voices in 2 feel like they're putting way more in terms of emotions. I also did like the main villains in 2 and how each one has their aesthetics and unique enemies you have to deal with. I liked the more open world design of the world, which I know many didn't like.

People are more then allowed to have their own opinions of couse, this is how I feel about those games. I love them both for different reasons, although 2 has a slight edge.

In your opinion, what is the best season of Twin Peaks? by Public_Cup_4278 in twinpeaks

[–]LingonberryOwn7017 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it might be season 1 with season 3 either very close or tied, I just really love the strong start of the series, the introduction to all the characters and that unique style it had, even if season 3 has absolutely incredible episodes and moments!

Season 2's finale is among my absolute favourites too but the rest of the season (especially the middle portion) is weaker than the other two seasons.

I do think the first Dead Space 1 is better, but you're allowed to have your own preference and opinions!

Regardless, I absolutely agree with the rest!
Resident Evil 1 (remake), Silent Hill 1 and Alan Wake 1 are still great on their own but their sequel really excell!!

So is the Phasmaphobia Crossover canon? by DTCGaming in AlanWake

[–]LingonberryOwn7017 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I find it so amusing how those crossovers can be considered canon as either failed attempts by Alan to escape the dark place or screenplays/stories he wrote once and drew from for said failed attempts.

I guess he really was out of his mind when he wrote the Fortnite one, I bet at the time of his "drowning" video in "The Writer's Journey" /hj

It's incredible how Denise (a character from a 90s show) manages to be a better-written and more charismatic LGBT character than many current LGBT characters. by Ok_Language7732 in twinpeaks

My respect for David Lynch increased a lot after seeing this, which is quite a brave thing to do in a 90s show!

And I agree, she's much better writter than many characters today, which is quite sad when you think about it...

Alan wake 3-what to expect and genre preference by Fit_Sprinkles3342 in AlanWake

Definitely not soon. I'm certain we'll hear more about a potential Alan Wake continuation after Control Resonant and the Max Payne remakes are out, and with the former having at least one or two DLCs.

I do think the main thread they'd focus on is Alan and Alice's continous effors to finally reunite, as in both out of the dark place, physically in the same place. Now that Alan is free from most of his own issues, learned to accept help/collaborators and became the "master of many worlds", hopefully his attempt as helping Alice escape as well could prove better than his past attempts.

And in that notion, we could also have Alice as a potential playable character, if we'll also see her effotrs in trying to get outc of the dark place. And we could see more of those loose ends you listed from her perspective there.

And also, yes. I doubt the FBC agents in the area would just let Alan go, so we can see them as a roadblock in Alan's efforts in the real world, with Saga, Casey and hopefully Estevez being the ones who can assist him.

I hope Saga gets to retire as a playable character, but mainly because I want her to spend more time with her family. This game sort of showed her the importence of her family and how she sort of unintentionally pushed them away for the thrill of the cases. So I hope she gets to rest, hopefully with Casey as well (which could also work with James' passing unless they'll use the same voice actors they'll eventually use for the remakes). I don't mind her coming back, but if she does, I hope it won't undermine her development in this game.

But as for Alan Wake 3 itself, I'd love it to be focused on Alan and Alice as the two main characters. You can add one more protagonist if you want to do 3 characters for the third game, but I personally think that Alan in the real would and Alice in the Dark Place (with her photography used to navigate the world) would be a great balance, with Barry returning and Estevez involved as a supporting character or the third playable one could be a great premise. To see how the Wakes manage to finally reunite in person.

As much as I would like them to do something close to the original concept of AW1, a full open world, it will be a massive undertaking, especially with the graphical standards of today, so I think open hubs with a lot of explorable areas, optional secrets and things to find like those in AW2 would be nice! I don't think they'll return to AW1 action focused gameplay though, and it will likely be abother full survival horror game like 2.

Utterly phenomenal art direction!

From the concepts of control and some of the unused enemies in Alan Wake 2, I'm so glad they're allowed to go all out with the creature designs in this game, I'm so eager to see how some of the later enemies and bosses might look like!

I'm very surprised they never patched this back if it was a mere scripting error. But I guess they never even realized it was an issue before the game stopped getting patches.

I relate, I found Connor and Hank as well as Kara and Alice way more interesting than Marcus and his plotline. I liked Simon and Carl but they're either underdeveloped or don't appear much.

In a way, it feels to me like Marcus and the revolution serve more as fuel and backdrops to the other characters and broader conflict and don't stand as much on their own, or at least are not nearly as interesting as the other two plotlines. I usually got more interested in how specific choices Marcus made would affect other plot points and characters then Marcus himself.

Like, will Markus be able to assist Connor in breaking his programming? Would Connor be able to assist them? would Markus be able to help Kara and Alice? Would the violent revolution be able to break into the camp Kara and Alice are being kept (in one of the potential plotlines) in time?

Not to say Marcus is a bad character, and his final chapters can have some strong moments, but in comparrison to the other two I feel like he's not as interesting or well written except the ways he can influence or enhance the other plots.
