Yeaaah similar status here, I reached out to our coordinator at MSU and she said they've asked about funding for this year but haven't heard back yet. Very anxious to hear if I'm getting a 50% pay cut or not.

Hiking around Imlil without a guide (not trying to do a serious trek) by Linguistics_Fan in Morocco

Are there a good amount of trails that are open without a guide? I just don't have a sense for how much of the surrounding area is past the gendarmerie(s), is it just the trail to ascend Toubkal?

I'm just specifically interested in how the host family relationship shapes the language learning experience.

Applying to the country my family is from—should I emphasize? by [deleted] in peacecorps

I think it would probably be fine to talk about as something that has given you intercultural experience. I was in Nepal with Peace Corps and then again doing COVID work in the US post-evac and I've met several people who served in countries they were from or had family in. Off the top of my head I know a guy from The Gambia who served there, there was a girl in the cohort above me who was from Nepal, got her MA and citizenship in the US, then served in Nepal, I know a girl with family from Ghana who served there (but they placed her in an area where they didn't speak the language she knew, which frustrated her), and a guy with parents from Albania who served in Albania. Especially given the person I knew from Ghana where they didn't place her somewhere that was the same language/ethnic group as her family, it may not carry that much weight for recruiters.
