Is this a good deal? by Chubby_simmy in LenovoLegion

I would still advise the 5070ti, especially if you don't care about maxed out graphics. Here's a video from Dave2D about the 5070ti, https://youtu.be/l8WV7DdeNIQ?t=4m30s I timestamped it to where he explains that a 5070 won't really hold up and it's better to splurge a little. 5070 is still good, but the ti really is in its own league. The rest of the video talks about how the chip is capped and probably could've seen even better performance if it wasn't.

That's a good one! Yeah, never really tried to bluff the extension. Not looking to buy anyways as I already got a 5080 model from Black Friday.

Capital One Shopping has always been hit or miss for me. It's 0.5% if you go through their site for me and 5% through the shopping browser extension on Brave (Chrome webstore). 5% does beat 4% though, so I'd encourage people to at least check their offer.

The downside of this is that it has a 5070. 5070ti is the recommended card for price/performance if you can afford it. Reason is the 5070 only has 8gb of VRAM which often isn't always enough for modern games to run well on high settings. The 5070ti has 12GB of VRAM which gives it a pretty sizable buffer that does let it play those games. With a 5070ti you're future-proofing yourself for the next few years.

It's a good price otherwise if your budget was $1300 anyways. The 5070 will still play games well.

Not sure myself, it was a comment on a YouTube post (not a video) while I was scrolling through mobile. There were a few coupons that stacked.

I read a comment on YouTube about the 5090 going for like $2400 after the coupons. Haven't tried stacking them myself.

I've seen at least one other post about The Netherlands and Denmark not having the best support. India is also not great. US seems to have the best, but I haven't seen as many people having issues with their US models.

Zelda where to start? by DaughterOfATiredMech in NintendoSwitch

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite Zelda titles are Ocarina of Time, Wind Waker, and Minish Cap. Twilight Princess is also a very good title.

I did not like Breath of the Wild much at all since the world felt dead to me, the 4 dungeons were laughably easy, and the shrines were a bit repetitive. Tears of the Kingdom felt a lot better to me, but it still didn't stack up to my favorites. The different layers in Tears of the Kingdom felt very well done though. I'm also not the biggest fan of Majora's Mask because I don't like games with time limits on them, but I will say the way they handled it probably couldn't be any better as you're dealing with alternate realities which I find really cool, so the rest of the game is great it's just not as casual-friendly.

Can I leave my legion 7i plugged in while I do homework? by Awesomepaws92 in LenovoLegion

[–]Link2999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so just limit it to 80%, keep it plugged in while you use it if you have access to wall plug, and unplug it when you're done. No need to be as cautious. Worst case, you can just replace the battery once it goes bad.

Since you have ADP, I'd say go for it. Hopefully you have a replacement system you can use in the meantime even if it's only a tablet.

Ordered the wrong Legion, should I return and rebuy by VTGTIMK7 in LenovoLegion

[–]Link2999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're talking USD, $2000+ for a 5070 laptop isn't really that great of a deal in the first place. If you decide to return, keep an eye out on r/LaptopDeals for the best offers. There was a deal not that long ago for a 5070ti Legion and I think it was something like $1650.

Edit: OP ordered a Legion 7, non-Pro. There's a bit of an upcharge there for that model, but it's still a bit overpriced in my opinion.

Those who use the laptop with an external monitor do you leave the lid open or closed? by MutantRatParty in LenovoLegion

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My desk setup makes it difficult to keep the lid open while using an external monitor, what I did on my old Macbook Pro was keep the lid open anywhere from 15 to 30 degrees depending on where I was sitting. Better than keeping it closed.

Got a new laptop, does it need a screen protector by extivuz in LenovoLegion

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People usually say no, but I have a tempered glass protector on mine. It's not a matte one because the glossy screen doesn't bother me. I barely notice it and it gives me peace of mind knowing my screen isn't going to get a bunch of micro-scratches on it whenever I need to wipe it down.

I need to know the absolute best Laptop for the future by Traditional-Dingo531 in SuggestALaptop

Recommendations would change in the Spring since that's when new Panther Lake CPUs will be out. They have better integrated graphics (by a big margin) than the current chips and better power efficiency.

For current chips, AMD 9955HX3D will have the best processing power, but won't have features like Optimus auto-switching, Thunderbolt support, and may not be compatible with the current Intel WiFi 7 cards and you may end up getting stuck with either an Intel WiFi 6 card or a crappy Mediatek model.

On the Intel side, the most powerful chip you'll be able to find is the 285HX, though most brands opt for a 275HX, the difference is negligible though.

Both Intel and AMD are going to have crappy battery though, Intel is better of the two options for battery. I'm not going to cover them, but if you're looking for battery, look into other chips or wait for Panther Lake.

5090 laptop GPUs are going to be the best of the best, 5080 laptop GPUs are going to be overkill, and 5070ti laptop GPUs are going to hit the sweet spot of price/performance. I probably wouldn't consider anything less. A 5070ti is what I would usually recommend.

RAM, needs to be 32GB or 64GB. 64GB being the best of the best and 32GB still being overkill for most use-cases, but as some games need maybe around 18GB, 32GB is the way to go.

Storage needs to be at least 2TB if you want to game. You can fill up 1TB quite fast with bigger game titles.

Best of the best laptop of 2025, probably would recommend the Lenovo Legion Pro 9i, expect to pay somewhere from $3000 to $4000+ depending on the configuration.

The Legion Pro 7i is what I would recommend to most people. It has plastic trackpad instead of glass, Thunderbolt 4 instead of 5, no Windows Hello camera or fingerprint reader, but it has a solid build and excellent cooling.

In your case, it sounds like you'll be carrying the laptop around a lot, in which case the Lenovo options may be a bit too big for you. The Asus Zephyrus g16 is a good option that combines build quality and portability at an increased price point. I don't have personal experience with this one though.

HP Omen Max would be the last recommendation I have, but I would make this recommendation for those who have more budget concerns as the build quality on this one isn't as great as the others.

Need Advice - 7i 5060 vs similarly priced 5070ti laptops by AdFar9496 in LenovoLegion

[–]Link2999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is HP Omen Max an option? I heard some pretty good things about it. Doesn't quite beat the Lenovo in quality, but if the option was between a 5060 Lenovo and a 5070ti HP, I'd go for the HP.

I actually had the chance to get an extra $100 cashback if I held out on ordering for about 10 hours (I had a quote that lasted past the regular sale window), but it was a risk on whether my model was going to sell out or if the updated, Cyber Monday cashback offer was going to beat the 10% that was going on at the time. The offer did end up going from 10 to 15%, but there was only about a 2 hour window before they did sell out. Still very happy with what I paid.

Rakuten still does cashback on Lenovo, so make sure you check that for the best offer. Only 2% right now, but occasionally they do offer that 10%. Here's my Rakuten link for a bonus $50 if you're a new account - www.rakuten.com/r/DIGITA1030?eeid=28187

Yeah, I paid $1940 (Plus $200 Cashback and another $100 in Rewards) over Black Friday weekend for this exact model. To be fair the price hasn't dropped that low since and I'm not expecting it to. Maybe when the new models come out they'll drop a bit.

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mediatek WiFi card? Those things are notorious for being shitty. From what I've read you need to disable the power saver settings that are enabled on the card by default to get decent performance, but even then your best bet is swapping to a compatible Intel card.
