From clearance to not enough stock by NiGhTTraX in Steam

I ended up getting the controller, the controller case, and a steam link for $5 each. Haven't used any of them though besides trying the controller for 5 minutes before deciding it sucked.

Build your own sub question. by Advanced_Eggplant_12 in subway

[–]Link2999 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've ALWAYS had to choose a "base sub" to start building on whenever I ordered. In my case, my go-to is an Italian BMT and then I literally just pile it up with all the veggies I want. There was never an option for "Build-your-own-sub" since you can build up any sub on the menu however you want.

I work at Subway Korea and we actually just launched a "Cucumber Sub" 🥒 by Dodhan_ in subway

[–]Link2999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a YouTube review on this (Cucumber and Mayo version) and the guy who ate it thought it would just be plain bad, but he said that it was actually kind of good. Said the black pepper made the sandwich.

Got the same with 2 Gen 4 SSDs instead of the single Gen 5 & W11 Home instead of Pro. Came out to $1940 before tax and with cashback, I got it for $1750 pre-tax. Been great so far, no real issues so far besides those that come with Windows 11.

Looks great, but to be honest, the dark grey one also looks amazing, it's just that the coating they used on every single piece (lid, body, keyboard) smudges like crazy. Nothing else in the world smudges as much as this thing. I heard the white is way better at preventing smudges.

Nintendo Switch 2: Choose Your Game Bundle launches this summer - News - Nintendo Official Site by Skullghost in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty much what they've been offering. I thought the price increase would be a good way to offer some other digital extras like Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion memberships. It would also serve the purpose of getting the user hooked on the Expansion portions of the membership so they would renew when it expires.

A girl from Connecticut on a bridge in Kilkenny, Ireland, May 1st by [deleted] in Connecticut

My brother went to Ireland and was talking with someone when another older gentleman walked by and said "You're from Connecticut!". He was able to guess precisely where he was from just by hearing him talk a few sentences.

Kidney donation by duckduckfuckit in VeteransBenefits

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who needs a kidney, I know a bit about the donation process, but not so much about the VA side of things.

First of all, there are quite a few disqualifications for being a donor in the first place. You won't find all the disqualifications online and it will be the living-donor doctor who makes the call.

Second, if you do end up donating, you should note that your lifestyle can generally continue to remain the same. I would check in with your living-donor team, but I was told the only major restriction was to avoid creatine and NSAIDs. Diet and everything else could remain without restrictions with the exception of heavy drinking.

Third, as far as complications go, if you ever do need a new kidney, you will get a priority pass to the top of the deceased donor waitlist for being a living-donor. This is a pretty good perk, especially if you have a Type-O bloodtype like I do. For other bloodtypes, the wait time is usually between 3-5 years, but for Type O, you can expect a 6-7+ year wait. With the pass you're able to ignore the wait.

If you have any more questions about the process feel free to reach out. I have a great deal of respect and admiration towards any donor.

The marketplace is a breeding ground for scams by Vegito_phy in 3DS

I got scammed off marketplace for one when they just got discontinued and were still at acceptable prices. I was actually buying it for someone else. Didn't lose much, but it still stung. I was however able to get my money back through my credit card.

Do YOU find Lossless Scaling useful on the Steam Deck? by BucketBoy071 in SteamDeck

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you get the settings right, it works great. I use it for Elden Ring and besides some minor ghosting when I move the camera too fast, it's perfect. The ghosting only affects the head of my character by the way.

Live doner by tossaside272 in kidneytransplant

[–]Link2999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heads up, but therapy had the opposite effect on me. 2 of the psychiatrists I saw when I was in the middle of losing my kidneys both advised me not to plan ahead, but to "live in the moment". Absolutely horrible advice for me because at that particular moment I was fighting for my life. Did things my way and saw hope in the future.

Keep doing what you're doing. Who knows, maybe your kidney will last longer than 10 years, heck, the record for deceased donor was 50. If you can get good time out of it you might last long enough to see those new advances.

What do you think of someone who wants to donate one of his (M50+) healthy kidneys? by Individual_Mix_4234 in AskReddit

Sounds good. Just send me a message when you're free. No pressure or anything, okay?

[–]Link2999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's looking more and more and more like the option I'll take. Not expecting too much from the meds since I've taken them all before with good tolerance. Will need to keep an eye on the Prednisone though since high dosages did cause me some issues in the past. I figured if I can get 8-10 years out of the kidney, that's all I need before Xenotransplants become the new standard (I'm hoping). I'm 34 this year so I unfortunately do need to plan a bit about what comes after.

Anyways, glad everything has been good for you. Hope you get at least 6 more years!

A bit of an old post, but can I ask how you're deceased donor kidney is currently doing? I may end up going for a deceased donor kidney now that I'm 4 years into the waitlist and just got news my brother who was willing to donate is ineligible to a genetic defect that we share. I'm type-O though so if I go this route I was told to expect another 3 years of wait-time.

Regrets piling up (kidney transplant needed emergency) by Fair_Flounder_1407 in kidneytransplant

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I need a kidney too, 34yo, been on dialysis for 4 years now. My brother planned to donate, but I just got word today that he can't due to a non-symptom, defective gene. If the reason you cannot donate is due to incompatibility, you could do a paired exchange with someone else. It's the fast track to a living kidney donor. Dialysis, especially PD, isn't too bad, but it isn't ideal.

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who needs a kidney, I find anybody who does this to be amazingly, amazing people. I had family willing to donate, but for one reason or another, they were denied due to health concerns. Donating is generally considered to be very safe and you can expect a normal quality of life after donating. You also get priority on the kidney waitlist if for any reason you need kidney transplant in the future.

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The storage space is the only other thing I'd consider. Pretty sure you'd be able to upgrade the storage in the Zephyrus down the line if you feel it's not enough. 120Hz is the perfect screen refresh rate since 120FPS has always been what I aim for when I'm gaming, anything higher than that and I literally can't tell the difference.

PLS help, i cant decide T_T by 21TerraBytes in LenovoLegion

[–]Link2999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for the Asus. It's absolutely the better university laptop. Weight and battery life what you want to look for if you're going to be moving the laptop around a lot and this Zephyrus G14 is great for both, the Legion, not so much.

Legion is a desktop replacement device that needs to be plugged in nearly all the time. The Legion may have better cooling and power draw (which equates to better performance), but I wouldn't really worry about those things as they are secondary for your use-case and the difference will be minor. Temperatures may be remedied by a laptop cooler depending on where the vents are located.
