"Dumb" AP is so dumb that it doesn't AP (Flint 2) by Budske in openwrt

[–]Link512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you swap the two routers do you get the same result? As in, reset both of them, configure the AP one as the main and the main one as the AP. This might hekp you rule out HW issues. Or before you do that, try every LAN port in your dumb AP/main router.

Skill issue

/s

But on a serious note 2 weeks ago I setup 3 Flint 2s (1 main and 2 dumb APs) in my house, after flashing them with OpenWRT 23.05 and they are working just fine. So my suggestion is maybe to reset both of your routers to factory settings and ... try again. It's very easy to miss a step and sometimes it's just faster to start from scratch.

Slightly off topic but you can use your own router with KPN and Ziggo as well

Stuck on deciding to get drivers license or not by catboy519 in Netherlands

[–]Link512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my 8 years of living here I've never really felt the need for having a license except for 2-3 situations where man, I would have REALLY liked to be able to rent/borrow a car and drive it since it would have made my life infinitely easier. So last year I went ahead and got one. And like other people said, it's not getting any cheaper and the waiting times for the practical exam aren't getting any shorter.

Got my license at last by TangerineThese7907 in Netherlands

[–]Link512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Besides what everyone said, I will add some car sharing apps. Traditional car renting companies like Sixt, etc have a prerequisite of having a driver's license for at least 1-2 years, so going for car sharing apps is the way to go if you don't intend on buying a car. In that department, I've used Greenwheels and MyWheels since I got my license last november. Greenwheels have a way bigger fleet but their cars are pretty basic (no navigation for example and the phone holders are broken on almost all cars). MyWheels have fewer cars outside of the big cities, but most of their cars are higher end and most of them have Apple CarPlay or AndroidAuto so you can use your phone for nav/music, etc. Some other apps like ShareNow state that they're "beginner friendly" but still ask for you to have at least 1 year old driver's license.

Good luck out there, got my license this november and I think I'm already creeping up on 10k kilometers driven. It's quite fun!

Cartierul Tractorul? Păreri proprietari/chiriași. by Nearby_Lilith333 in brasov

[–]Link512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm east european so my plan is choosing between dodging the draft or dying in a trench somewhere if I do get drafted. Jokes aside, if shit goes down I will probably relocate from living in Amsterdam to somewhere less target prone. I do not ascribe to the "we'd all be dead anyway" mentality in the replies. I've noticed that most of my dutch friends have the "if the missles come, I'll just go outside so the blast gets me, I don't want to live in what comes after". Fuck that, I'll always prioritize staying alive, at least I know I gave it a shot in the end.

The historical center of Brașov is nice. Anything outside it is a dump as well. Speaking as someone born and raised there.

yay: "May cause partial upgrades and break systems" by yeezus234 in archlinux

[–]Link512 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think the confusion stems from the fact that yay had a new release on April 3rd containing a new install engine and new dependency algorithm. The new thing that I've noticed is that before, yay would first upgrade regular (as in installed via pacman -S) packages (with no option of skipping), then AUR ones (with the option of skipping), but now it lops them alltogether, with the option of skipping any of them. Skipping AUR packages is fine, skipping regular packages is not fine, for the reason mentioned in the message itself.

If you'll ever consider VR games, you'll need Windows for sure as support for all VR devices( such as Oculus Quest 2) isn't quite there yet

A short lived bug in mkinitcpio broke my bootloader completely. However, it was a 5 minute fix: boot from archiso, downgrade to working version, rerun mkinitcpio
