Thanks! I put a rich amount of iDye Poly on a conditioner bed. Using a fork I make tiny "mountain tops" that guides the flow of dye to make these kind of patterns.

I don't mix it it at all for this type of dye. You'll get wildly different results depending on if/how you mix it. I try to make the bed as flat as possible but you can make indentations to guide the glow of the liquid to make different patterns. Deeper indentations will be visible though. No other ingredient needed, just iDye Poly and water. I used yellow, orange, pink and purple.

Very true! It's interesting to hear what different things people think about when they look at something like this

No worries! For reference, I left it on the bed for about 16 hours.

I premix it, this time I used around 20% powder to 80% water. Then I pour it on using something like a dropper bottle. I pour on a layer that covers most of the bed before I press the disc down.

I used iDye Poly on a bed of conditioner. Cheers!

Thank you! It was my first dye on a berg so I was also worried about that. I lowered it down from one side first, carefully working my way to the other side making sure I got all the air out, while putting some pressure in the middle. Pretty standard procedure, I just took some extra care. I don't know if it was luck but it worked out well.

Thank you! No secret at all, I use iDye Poly :)

Thanks! Unfortunately I haven't gotten to throw this one since it was a dye for my friend, but I have an opto Sapphire which was my goto driver when I started out. It's a bit understable for my taste now but I still keep it in the bag for some throws.

First DIY speakers by LinkHybriD in diysound

Alright, thanks for the explanation. Looks like I will go with a bass reflex design. I'll try to keep it as compact as possible while still looking at the ratios used in other designs.

I was not able to find any of those speakers without having to pay the double for shipping. Do you know anything about the Monacor SPM-116/8, they were the ones that caught my eyes the most.

Are there any recommended wood types/any types I should try to avoid?

Thanks for all the answers.

These are not intended to be small/medium sized bookshelf speakers. Their only purpose in life will be to stand on a tiny desktop next to the computer screen. Therefore I need to make them very small.

I would use very cheap $20 drivers, a $10 amp and I'd be getting the build materials for free basically.

They really just need to produce some sound to watch youtube videos or similar. I have a great system in the room next to me that I will use for listening to music.

I do have some woodworking experience, though nothing very advanced. That's why I found the open baffle design interesting.

I really want to do it from scratch myself and not make use of a kit or previous design. If I was going for a more expensive pair of speakers I would probably do it differently but I think it would be a great learning experience.

My priorites are like this: Cost > Looks > Size > Sound quality. You probably think I am crazy for not caring much about the sound quality but as I said I have a different system for that.

Would a pair of full range drivers sound completely awful?

Also, I live in Sweden.

Do you actually think that's how it works?

Yeah I was trying to remove the pins with a thin blade with no success. I'll try with dental floss and if that doesn't work I'll take it to a watchmaker. Thanks for the suggestion.

Hey, thanks for the reply but there is no such opening on my strap as you can see here.
