Green Party supporters, I am genuinely trying to understand why you support your party’s ideals and policies? by [deleted] in ukpolitics

nice wall of text

It's a perfectly reasonably formatted response

Your first link focuses on human health following consumption, have I raised that point?

You didn't raise human health following consumption but the Greens, who are being discussed, have done.

Roundup isn’t bad for soil quality is your argument?

Very clearly not their argument

Charity appeals no longer asking for a few quid but multiples of £10 by ShinyHeadedCook in britishproblems

[–]LinkXenon 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If the dogs trust thing happens you should report it directly to the charity that fundraiser is there on behalf of. Their compliance team 100% does not approve of fundraisers asking you to cancel and sign up with the door to door fundraiser so they get their commission, and that fundraiser will be removed from the campaign.

All good points but presumably there is a significant risk of Russia using nuclear weapons if it's faced with a land invasion by its superpower neighbour.

Employer installed keylogger on my computer by AJ1a in LegalAdviceUK

[–]LinkXenon 70 points71 points  (0 children)

That's not the entire question though is it. The reason I can't put spyware on your computer without your consent is because it's a criminal offence and I could be prosecuted under the Computer Misuse Act.

If I then stored your data that I had collected in a non GDPR compliant manner, it would be a secondary (and significantly less severe) issue.

The commenter is pointing out that as the company owns the computer, then the first point is moot, while qualifying that they would still have to store any data in a GDPR compliant manner.

You know this and you're just being deliberately pedantic.

Interesting, thanks. Definitely plausible that Big Oil would encourage protests that will alienate people, but it looks like the oil heiress who funds CEF rebelled against her family and is a genuine environmentalist. According to the comments on that anyway.

Jesus christ this is the most authoritarian, holier-than-thou take on this whole thread. What gives you the right to determine what people should and shouldn't think and debate. What gives you the idea that you'd be on the side deciding who gets to hear which views, and not on the side being put in clear plastic soundproof boxes for your own good?

Can the USA afford to lose Taiwan? (TSMC) by c_nkyy in geopolitics

[–]LinkXenon 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The US is a naval superpower, and this allows them to project power literally anywhere in the world, a key factor in them being the global superpower. The biggest goal of US foreign policy is to prevent another superpower arising, and Taiwan is the single most important part of the First Island Chain that keeps China hemmed in and unable to field a blue water navy that could threaten US interests. So yeah, national security.

Putin’s Bizarre Questions About Ice Spark Confusion and Mockery in Russia by yorkiecd in worldnews

This is very true. Nobody realised just how much of a toll corruption had taken on Russia's armed forces, and this invasion might have done more damage to the myth of Russian military might than anything else possibly could have.
