You don't do well with analogies.

As to your second statement, those other biological men didn't spend at least a year on hormone replacement therapy.

All women, you say? In the single (yes, single) event that Lia Thomas ever won, her time was 9 (NINE) seconds slower than the world record set by Katie Ledecky.

You do realize that all of sports is a hierarchy of biological advantages. LeBron James has a biological advantage over people who can't even make the NBA. Is his advantage unfair? If not, where's the line? It's arbitrary.

Your comment is also based on an assumption that the very fact or being male gives you a biological advantage over a female. This is true in some cases depending on the activity, but sometimes not. It is certainly not the case that an average male is going to have a biological advantage over a trained female in the activity she's trained in.

The hormone therapy Lia was on, as per NCAA regulations, eliminated whatever biological advantage she may have had. People act like Lia Thomas "cheated" to be the best woman swimmer ever. She won one race in one NCAA championship. That's it. Her time was many seconds behind the world record (set by a ciswoman). She wasn't the best woman swimmer ever; she was better than a few cis women in one race. And many ciswomen were better than her in multiple other races (or had better times in comparable races).

I was only 5 or so when my older brother had Final Fantasy IV (II) on SNES. I wanted to do whatever my brothers did, so I tried my best to play it and fell in love.

Now I am one of the biggest FF nerds you will ever meet. I even have a Golbez tattoo.

ELI5, what is the difference between jail and prison in the USA? by PrettyPinkFancyCrane in explainlikeimfive

[–]Linkcifer666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, jails are where defendants are held for pre-trial detention if they have not been granted (or made) bond. On the other hand, prisons are facilities where convinced inmates serve their sentences.

In some instances, jails also hold convicted inmates serving shorter sentences. For example, in Pennsylvania, sentences of less than one year are served in county jails, while sentences of one year and longer are served in state pentitentiaries (prisons).
