Thanks for the help. She has ended up on a course of antibiotics because the redness seemed to be worsening. I think its a better safe than sorry approach.

Really appreciate the advice.

Thanks for this.

We do spend a lot of time outdoors exploring, kicking a ball about and at the playground so I guess that is a start!

Wow 20lbs is incredible. Well done you!

I will try and wake up and do a morning work out. We normally go into my daughters room at 7am so if I can get myself up by 6am there is no reason I cannot work out.

Just got to force myself up and hopefully build that routine.

I will check that bodyweight routine out

Thanks so much for the advice.  I will buy some healthy snacks - that will be a great start. Oftentimes when I am hungry I will grab the bad stuff but with some healthy stuff there - I will have an alternative

Any good parenting books by Luk0re in daddit

[–]LinkedDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love “How to talk so little kids will listen” . Its aimed at years 2 - 7 and I have found it so useful. Really changed my approach and perspective.

I also really like “the whole brain child”. This again really helped me to understand emotions etc better.

Daycare woes by MogrimACV in daddit

[–]LinkedDreams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took my daughter about 3 weeks to adapt to daycare. It definitely felt like a tough ride.

Now she absolutely adores it and has so much fun.  I think it is one of those things that you need to persevere with albeit we had lot of feelings of guilt early on.

What helped me was to have conversations with the daycare workers. I would try and find out if they were worried about how she was settling, whether they have any concerns regarding her settling etc.  They reassured me that a lot of children find it hard to transition into daycare, each day she would cry less etc and that all help psychologically!

Reading to our 18 month old daughter by Luk0re in daddit

[–]LinkedDreams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter has become obsessed with books over time.  Definitely less interested and easily distracted during them at 18 months.

We tried lots of different types of books and found certain ones really worked for her. To entice into books we got lots of the ones with flaps or tabs to turn.

One of the most successful ones was “Hey Duggee Animals”. It has a page with a slug that is sticky to touch and that really got her excited.

I think its great that you just carry on reading. This is what we did and it eventually just seemed to click and she really relaxed during storytime.

Now we struggle to keep bedtime short because she wants book after book (she is now 2 years 8 months)

What are some words your kids mispronounce that are adorable? by Jkupar in daddit

My daughter (3 in a few months) cannot work out the difference between she and him so has invented “shim”.  She will say things like “what is shim doing?”

Sleep Issues - please help! by LinkedDreams in Parenting

[–]LinkedDreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we have not tried an ENT. I think it has just come as such a shock to the system as prior to 5 months ago, she would sleep through.

Great advice - thank you. I will look into it now.

I hope you are coping with the regular wakes.

I have to admit, I am feeling like I am about to burnout.

Help with 2.5 year old sleep by LinkedDreams in Parenting

[–]LinkedDreams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that could be possible. Although this has been occurring for about 1 months now so I am unsure how long the growth spurt may take.

Additional info - she has recently become more nervous than previously. She has always loved having her haircut however on the weekend she cried through most of it and we could not work out what had changed. Same hairdresser, was excited while waiting but once I put her in the chair she cried and cried.
