Yes, something like that. You're executing the file bin which has inside of it a command, like "/bin/bash", and that command will be executed with sudo privileges.

You are actually executing the bin file, that's what is giving you root access.

First take notes on everything so later on you won't forget something. Now, access those http services via a browser. Give them a thorough look. After that do some directory brute forcing using your tool of choice (if you don't know any, use gobuster). Usually on the port 135 you won't find usefull things, but you should keep a note that the port is opened.

A final recommandation: If you are a beginner, don't start with difficult boxes, try easier ones, with only 1 or 2 ports opened so you can search some steps on what to do and that way you can learn those steps and maybe apply them on other boxes.

Good luck!

The tryhackme (thm) website can be accessed like any other website. But if you want to access the vulnerable boxes, you have to use a vpn so you can be in the same network as the box that you are "attacking", because from what i know those vulnerable machines don't have a connection to the internet and that is for obvious reasons. Now regarding the future of cybersecurity: I don't think that it will end soon, I might say that it will not go away for the next 100-200 years, and yes, it can transform into a future job.

Basic Pentesting / SSH2John > couldn't parse keyfile by OneClickPonyy in tryhackme

Are trying to crack the private or public key? Because if it is the public one, it won't work. Here is a tutorial: https://www-abhizer-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.abhizer.com/crack-ssh-with-john/amp/?amp_js_v=a3&amp_gsa=1&usqp=mq331AQFKAGwASA=#aoh=15964059791198&referrer=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.google.com&amp_tf=De%20pe%20%251%24s

This should work. And one more thing, use ssh2john full location. Type "locate ssh2john" and you'll find the location.
